Maid of Honor
Taylor and Shelby in met in 2016 through mutual friends and their leadership in a youth program. Shelby was naturally intrigued by Taylor’s young age yet extensive maturity. As Shelby learned more about Taylor’s story, she found her to be completely admirable. Shelby was inherently drawn to her humor, sassy attitude, and ride-or-die mentality. Within months of meeting each other, “Shaylor” was developed, and they hit the road for the Larry Joe Taylor music festival in Stephenville, Texas. Despite their age differences, Taylor is often known to be Shelby’s voice of reason.
Best Man
Taylor and Jared met roping at Ruffin Farms over 10 years ago and immediately developed a friendship in and out of the arena. In 2013, they set out the make the USTRC Finals. They traveled together that whole year, Taylor heading steers and Jared heeling behind him. Together they won the Alabama Championship and qualified for the US finals in Oklahoma City, OK. Late nights chasing white lines left the two many stories that they'll tell for years to come.
Bridesmaid
Cassidy and Shelby met in 2008 during Shelby’s first semester at Troy University. They instantly connected during their first practice together on Women’s Rodeo Team. Despite being raised in highly different environments, they bonded over shared, deep-rooted value systems. Over the years, they have shared many adventures together. There were many late nights with rich conversations hauling to rodeos, sunny days on Lake Martin, and of course, that one trip to Montana. For years to come, Cassidy would refer to Shelby as “Sipester” or her “little hippie friend,” and Cassidy will forever be known as “Cassarole.”
Groomsman
Seth and Jared met in 2008 when Jared’s horse, Roscoe, lacerated his eye. Seth was the attending veterinarian for several months to follow. Through their work together, they developed a professional and personal relationship. In the years to follow, they spent lots of time together roping and hanging out with family.
Bridesmaid
Kaylie and Shelby met in 2016 through Kaylie’s husband, Joe. They instantaneously connected over their Hoosier Heritage. Kaylie, Joe, and Shelby all were born and raised in Indiana, but all followed a path leading to Alabama as young adults. With Kaylie’s sweet and companionate heart, a true friendship was inevitable. Kaylie always availed a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on during some of Shelby’s most difficult times. But, most importantly, Joe and Kaylie led Shelby to walk closer with the Lord. Their friendship really flourished when they introduced her to their current fellowship.
Groomsman
Joe and Jared met through their bible study at Connection Point Church. Jared feels Joe is his Mississippi because any time he gets in trouble within the group, he can guarantee Joe is behaving just as badly. Joe and Kaylie have become truly cherished friends to Jared and Shelby.
Bridesmaid
Caitlin and Shelby originally met in 2014 during their graduate work at Auburn University. They both were studying in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, but their relationship did not develop so immediately. It could be said, the two kept their distance at first. Through their cohort events they initially built a professional rapport. Yet, over time, grew an unconditional friendship. Caitlin, an AU Swimmer and overall Auburn veteran, really showed Shelby the joys of Auburn; football games at Jordan-Hare, native restaurants, Sky Bar, Chewacla State Park. Shelby accredits Caitlin’s generous spirit to have aided her through trying times and to have taught her how to love lavishly.
Groomsman
Alex is the brother of Shelby, but he and Jared were able to easily bond over their cowboy ways. Shelby says, “they’re both pretty rough but have true, loving hearts.” In lieu of the late Joseph M. Sipe, Alex will walk Shelby down the aisle on their wedding day.
