Fatimah and Adonai’s journey began long before they ever envisioned a wedding day. Their story started in 2014, during their freshman year of high school, in a world history class. Introduced by a mutual friend, Randy Logan, they connected two worlds that did not yet realize how significant that introduction would become. Their first impressions were remarkably different. Fatimah recalls thinking Adonai was shy, perhaps even a bit reserved, as he quietly offered a greeting. Adonai, conversely, was simply curious about the new student joining their circle. Neither could have predicted that this brief encounter would blossom into a lifelong partnership. Love did not arrive all at once; rather, it grew organically from a deep-rooted friendship. They bonded over shared music, inside jokes, and hours of conversation, finding a rare comfort in truly being understood. Fatimah was drawn to Adonai’s kindness, respect, and sense of humor. Adonai was struck by how much they had in common, from their core values to their similar upbringings. Fatimah was further delighted to discover that Adonai spoke fluent French, a language she had been dedicated to studying since middle school. Their first official date was both modest and memorable. Adonai took Fatimah to CiCi’s Pizza, where he spent his last bit of savings and tried, though unsuccessfully, to win her a stuffed animal. By being best friends first, they built a foundation of trust and companionship. Attending college together allowed them to grow side by side, supporting one another through academic milestones and personal growth. They learned to encourage each other to chase ambitious dreams and to serve as each other’s safe harbor. Through every season of life, they remained consistent, celebrating every victory and providing comfort through every challenge. Marriage was always their shared destination. They focused first on establishing their professional lives, completing their bachelor’s and master’s degrees to lay a stable groundwork for their future. When the time for the proposal arrived, Adonai acted with his trademark intentionality. After spending six months designing a custom ring, he surprised Fatimah with a trip to Paris. On the morning of March 6, 2024, at the Trocadéro, he asked for her hand in marriage. Fatimah was overcome with joy, shocked that he had managed to keep such a grand secret.
