Just Married

On January 31, 2013, we met at Old Ebbits Grill for Jameson and Ginger's before seeing the Lumineers play at the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) concert hall. We had only previously met on the dating site eHarmony, thanks to our friends' encouragement to enter the online dating world. With little expectation of the outcome, we have been smitten ever since our first encounter. After almost 5 years of dating, Luke (finally) proposed on 12-24-2017. He chose to get down on one knee in the comfort of our living room while we were both wearing PJs. I said yes! Then, we began to research wedding venues and quickly became overwhelmed. As Luke joked about just going to the courthouse, I made a stipulation that if we were going to elope it would have to be romantic and adventurous. We explored options for overseas ceremonies in Ireland, Scotland, and elsewhere before discovering Danish Island Weddings. The simplicity and location beckoned us. And while we had every intention of keeping our plan a secret, we also wanted to ensure our family and friends were okay with our idea of a solo ceremony--which meant revealing the plot to loved ones near and far. With the blessings of our closest family and friends, we travelled to Copenhagen for the start of what has now been dubbed our "wedding-moon." We spent a couple days exploring Denmark's capital before journeying to the island of Ærøskøbing. On that beautiful, magical island we biked, beached, and enjoyed the best ice cream. We also got dressed up, joined each other in a special room called "The Merchant's Court," and committed to one another--legally and spiritually. We kissed, toasted with champagne, cut cake, and found a special place on the opposite side of the island to exchange our private vows. It was perfect! We could not be more grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends. Thank you for believing in us and showering us with kindness.
