DAC – 30th Ave at Calle 20 (our favorite) DAC fruteria is one of the oldest produce outlets in Playa. The atmosphere is nothing short of festive with colorful bags, and feather bolsters festooning the ceiling. Aisles of fresh produce, bins of chilies and jars of fresh spices, locally roasted coffee and Mexican cheeses make shopping a pleasure. DAC also offer a large selection of organic produce and baked goods from some of Playa’s finest bakeries. Frozen arrachera and some seafood is available here. This is a favorite shopping destination of ex-pats and visitors as well as locals. No trip to DAC is complete without a stop (at least for a fresh juice) at La Ceiba, the restaurant and juice bar adjacent to the market. If you indulge in juice or smoothies at home, you’ll be astounded at the size and reasonable prices on the delicious offerings here.
Marsan – 30th Ave at Calle 1 South This fruteria is walking or biking distance from the house and offers fresh produce, eggs, dairy, bulk grains, spices, chilies and other sundries.
