How we met

First comes school, then comes marriage!

We met in the fall of 2016 in an introductory geography class. I had "met" him the semester beforehand briefly and recognized the handsome man sitting across the room the instant I saw him. As our professor went through the average introductory day, I distinctly remember trying not to blush. Here was this super cute guy, sitting across the room with the most amazing smile and the cutest rosey cheeks I had ever seen. After class, KC came over to reintroduce himself and asked me to start sitting next to him. I, of course, said "yes." Time passed and we grew closer, getting to know one another and attempting to pass this class. Our first test was coming fast, I had gone down to Parker for the weekend to visit my family when suddenly my phone lit up with a Facebook message from KC that read "Hey did you do the assignment." Laughing to myself, I quickly told him there was no assignment, to which he asked me to get together to study. Little did I know that a little study date would blossom into the most beautiful, loving, God-centered, adventurous relationship either of us had experienced. That first "yes" to sit next to him was the second easiest "yes" I have said in my life--following close behind living the rest of my life with him.

The proposal

As all of you know, KC and I LOVE nothing more than laughing, playing jokes on one another, and doing things that are "distinctly us." Well, a few months ago, KC decided it was a great idea to take our jokes public--posting on Facebook that if he received 600 comments on this particular post he would crack a raw egg on my head for his birthday (which is a wonderful present, isn't it?) To my surprise, he succeeded in this. Well, then came his 24th birthday and we went to celebrate with all of our family and friends for dinner! Thinking that he had forgotten, I brushed it off and acted like nothing was supposed to happen (I did NOT want a raw egg on my head.) Dinner ended and KC suggested that we all go to take pictures together, which I thought was a brilliant idea until I realized Kennedy was carrying what I was told was a to-go box with a raw egg on it, reserved just for me. I got teased from everyone and my anxiety flew through the roof when I realized that it really was going to happen. The time came and KC told me to turn around so that he could smash this egg on my head--fulfilling what would be our first "big time joke." I did so, he counted to three, and put his hand on the top of my head. Confused, realizing that it was not an egg but his hand, I turned around to find KC on his knees asking me to marry him. Overwhelmed with more emotions than imaginable, I dropped to my knees in tears and said what was and is, the easiest "yes" I have said in my life.
