In late November of 2016, I had just returned home from traveling the states, living out of a tent, and I had a bad case of culture shock. I was sad, lost, and virtually alone. I quickly snagged a job at the local Qdoba to make some easy money doing what I love (yes, I would say that I *love* rolling burritos). On my second or third day, I was being trained on prep in the kitchen by one of the crankiest old men I've ever met. In the midst of instructions about proper meat temperatures and perfect fajita slices, I became suddenly aware of another presence in the area. He was a little short, wearing a backward black baseball cap, with the most darling curls spilling out the front. He was cute, sure, but what really caught me was his taste in music. He was playing "Over Soon", a single off of Bon Iver's latest album at the time. In the middle of Mr. Crotchety talking, I turned to the cute boy and proclaimed my love for the tune. Shortly after that, we took the trash out together, shared a smoke, and he invited me over for band practice that night, telling me that this was his last shift at Qdoba. I readily accepted, anxious for kind human interaction, and the rest is sort of history. We spent the winter months going on long walks together, sharing our favorite local parks with each other, and occasionally grabbing a day beer at Britton Tavern. In late February of 2017, we began officially dating. Four years later, and we can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together! We still enjoy long walks together in the sunshine, and the occasional Miller Lite on a Sunday afternoon.
