Our Story

A & Z | est. 04.22.11

Zachary and Adrienne's story dates back to Dec. 2010 at a big Christmas event that brought together Mien churches from all over California. Zachary recalls first noticing Adrienne when he was with his youth group in the church's game room and she was with her's. He was curious about who she was, so he turned to Ricky Chao (the now wedding officiant). Ricky went to the same church as Adrienne growing up, and was also friends with Zachary, so he asked him about her. One of the things he noticed about her was her youth group sweater. Everyone in the group had matching ones, and each of them had their full names written on the back. He remembered her name, added her on Facebook, and then slid into her inbox with the very bold message: “hi x)”. Adrienne got on Facebook eventually and saw the friend request and message from Zachary, but had no idea who he was. After a little profile stalking, she found out he'd also gone to the same church summer camp she’d been to (MCYA), even though they somehow never crossed paths there. He seemed harmless (and pretty cute), so she decided to message him back. They ended up chatting late into the night on Facebook messenger, she gave him her number to continue talking through text, and a few weeks later, they met in person where their first date took place at Arden Fair Mall. She didn’t drive at the time, so she asked a trusted cousin of her's — Jelena (who’s now one of the bridesmaids!) — to take her. That was their very first meet-up, and not long after, they started dating in April 2011. From teenage years to adulthood, they’ve grown up together over the past 14 years. They’ve been there for each other through high school, college, and starting their careers in healthcare — him as a nurse, her as a respiratory therapist. They’ve also become homeowners and developed a shared love for travel whether it's to see their friends and family in different states or visiting places on their bucket list. Now, they’re so excited to start this next chapter as husband and wife with Christ at the center of their relationship. They feel extremely blessed to have built so much together up to this point, and continue having goals to keep growing, dreaming, and making memories — especially with all the people they love most. They are so happy to have you be part of this special moment in their story.
