We have always been told to trust God’s timing and that “the one” comes along when you least expect it. That day at The Francis, in St. Francisville, LA. proved that saying to be true. After a long day at work, I decided to treat myself to lunch, when a group of hunters walked in for a ritual pit stop. All thanks to Andreas Hackman, aka “Hack”, I was introduced to what I didn’t know then would be the love of my life, Evan Matherne. Although we didn’t have many words for each other in that moment, the fact that our eyes continued to catch each other said it all. After a month of communicating through cell phones, Evan finally worked up the courage to ask me out. It was that night on our first date at Rock-n-Sake, we knew there was a special connection neither of us could deny. From then on, we spent every moment we could together falling deeply in love more than either of us ever believed to be possible. Our truest testament of this love came when quarantine hit and neither of us were considered “essential workers”. It was six weeks of pure bliss, whether being on the water catching our limit or enjoying the simplicity of getting to know each other more and more. In our time spent together, we were able to get a small glimpse of what it was we were both looking for, a partner and lifelong best friend. After I returned to work 100 miles away, neither of us could stand the distance. We felt that our hearts belonged alongside one another and knew we were ready for the next step in our journey. The day of June 19, 2020, on the beach in Gulf Shores, Evan got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. It was the easiest “YES” of my life. There is without a doubt that God had the upper hand in the crossing of our paths and played the sole part in the love, trust, and respect that we have for one another. We are overwhelmed with happiness to celebrate the joining of our lives with our closest family and friends who get to witness our dream come true!
