Long Time Coming

Sometime 2010

Ryan and I met in college... but each of us have a different version of what happened. No matter which scenario we tell though, the two of us bonding over knowing the lyrics to the song that was playing is definitely part of the story. That night sparked an incredible friendship. We had a lot of fun nights filled with music and laughs, and even behaved during the week to meet each other at school for late night study sessions. We undoubtedly became best friends. Somewhere along the way, each of us wanted to see what else our relationship could entail. But of course..... the timing was never right. Finally after years of being unsuccessful, at one of our closest friend's wedding everything all clicked into place! Ever since that night, each of us have been the happiest versions of ourselves. We are still best friends who are lucky enough to be able to spend the rest of our lives together.

The Proposal

8-11-2018

We had planned a trip to San Francisco for a long weekend to see a concert with three of our favorite bands, visit friends, and catch a few Giants games. It was already set to be an amazing time! There were a few little bumps along the way with our hotel arrangements, but looking back now all we can do is laugh. On that morning, we wanted to get up early to explore a little bit, have a nice lunch, and head to AT&T Park early for the Barry Bonds special event that was happening that night. I was a little tired and grumpy, so I was definitely testing Ryan's patience as we got coffee and started to walk around. We were walking along the Embarcadero by Pier 14, which is right in front of the San Francisco bridge. Ryan wanted to walk out to the end of the pier, which I’m sure I responded with a nice eye roll. As we got to the end, he said casually “I really wish the ground wasn’t so gross and dirty”, which just left me a little confused. When I asked him why, he said “because I want to ask you to marry me” and pulled out the ring. He did get on one knee for a second because the ground really was disgusting. After that, I was so shocked I barely remember what I said - I was in no way expecting that! I called my parents (who already knew of course), and my closest girlfriends… I was so unbelievably happy! We continued the rest of the day celebrating our engagement (I was sure to let every single person we talked to know that we had just gotten engaged). It was such a special day, we will never forget it!
