Our Story

Mia and I first met working in the Dining Hall together at Bennington College in our freshman year. It was not until we went on a school trip together to Dubai for COP28 that we started hanging out.

After our trip to Dubai, I visited Mia in NYC for New Year's and we went to the Museum of Natural History, where we took our first selfie.

This trip to NYC is also where we had our first date at Ras Plant-Based Ethiopian restaurant. This is the only photo evidence of that date.

Over winter break and Field Work Term, Mia and I FaceTimed a lot while I was in Bennington and she was in NYC.

In February, I traveled downstate to visit CUNY. I got a hotel room in Orangeburg, where Mia stayed with me and we watched Chicken Run and ate Thai food.

Our first trip together was with our friend Tanvir to Montreal, where we bought bagels and packed them into bags on the hood of my car.

This is the first photo Mia and I have together as a couple, sitting on the bed in her friend's dorm room.

Mia worked in the Cave at Bennington, where they have all the video equipment. I used to sit with her and do homework while she was on shift if I didn't have class.

I worked in the Photo Lab at this time, and Mia would sit and do work with me when I was on shift until 11:00PM.

Mia and I went to Munnsville for my 21st birthday. This was her first time meeting my whole family.

On this same trip to Munnsville, Mia went with me to all of my favorite places growing up in Munnsville and Old Forge as I photographed them for a project.

While photographing for this same project, Mia and I took a weekend trip to mid-coast Maine, where we visited more of my favorite places.

This was also on our trip to Maine, where we hiked Maiden's Cliff in Rockland.

Mia lived in the house next door to mine while in college. When she stayed the night in Bingham, this is often how she would walk home in the morning.

Two days before I graduated from Bennington, Mia and I took a break from packing to go swimming at the Tubs. Mia broke her foot climbing out of the swimming hole and walked a mile back to the car.

Mia didn't tell me she was hurt until we were on our way back to college. We went to the ER and spent the entire night there where she was prescribed one scooter we had to drive over an hour to pick up the next day.

My first time to Cousin Camp (and Alabama) was summer 2024. We did a scavenger hunt with all the cousins and had to take a photo with the "Mongoose generation."

In February 2025, Mia and I flew down to her Grandma's in Alabama to pick up her new car. We drove it back to Vermont on a 3-day car-camping adventure with our new sleeping bag.

Mia's friend Charlotte, who studied sculpture at Bennington, helped design and make our engagement rings a few months before we got enagaged.

I wrote Mia a letter that I took on our engagement trip for when I proposed. Mia found it in between the pages of my book while on the trip before I had a chance to give it to her.

Mia and I went kayaking with my parents and her mom on Limekiln Lake. When we got to the middle of the lake, Mia and I went to one of the islands where I proposed and she proposed back.

Right after our engagement, Mia and I took a trip to New Mexico to visit Alonzo and Abby- who had never met Mia. It was so great to spend some time with them and for Mia to finally meet them.

While in New Mexico, Mia and I did a lot of exploring and hiking. We hiked the tallest peak in Albuquerque- Sandia Peak.

For our first holiday season engaged, we spent Thanksgiving with my family in Munnsville, and got our Christmas tree.

We spent Christmas with Mia's family in Pelham, MA.

Mia and I did some engagement photos at 88 Milton. This photo was taken on the same bench where Mia and I first talked about getting married.
