Our story unfolds over the span of 3 years. We originally met back in 2017 when a group of friends got together for a casual game night. We introduced ourselves and, throughout the night, talked about our dreams and aspirations in life. After that evening though, we ended up going in our separate directions as we both had plans on moving out of town, Australia and Atlanta...aka, very out of town. For different reasons, neither of these big moves ended up working out, which led both of us to stay in our home town. Fast forward 3 years and Ryan ended up being the bar tender at Amber and Hectors Wedding! The night was fast pace and so we didn't get a chance to talk much, but Ryan made sure he made his move this time ;) He reached out after the wedding and, after some convincing by my girlfriends, I had said yes to giving him my number. A short time after, we met up for coffee and spent 3.5 hours catching up and talking about our life goals and dreams, and this time it felt like we were heading in the same direction. After dating for 9 months, Ryan had the most unexpected surprise up his sleeve and popped the big question!
We talked about marriage plenty of times, but never had put a timeline on the prospect of getting engaged. Both of us were making big moves in our careers, and so it didn't seem like the time to focus on something so big! This thought became the perfect set up for creating a very unexpected proposal. Amber (Adriel's sister), "talked with a photographer" and "planned a photoshoot for us", leading Adriel to believe that she was headed to a shoot for some marketing material for their upcoming storefront. After wandering around a greenhouse and finding no photographer, Ryan eventually strolled in. Still un-phased by what was actually going on, (she had assumed he was there to be supportive for the photoshoot), Ryan walked her around the greenhouse and shared about their first time meeting. It then hit Adriel what was happening, and after going into shock, next minute Ryan is on his knees and she was nodding her head yes! We popped some bubbly and then spent the night celebrating with our close friends and family at an after party - and the celebration hasn't stopped since!
