About a week before the proposal, we went into the jewelry store and walked over to a case of engagement rings to start looking at the options. Darren had pointed out a ring that was the same ring that had already caught my eye. The lady working there got it out and I tried it on. I loved it! Darren wanted to make sure that was the one I wanted, and had the lady pull out other similar styled rings. None of them felt or looked as perfect as the first one. We had asked about how long it takes rings to come back in once they are sent out for sizing, and the employees there said it was about 2 weeks. Darren purchased the ring that day while the other employee distracted me with wedding bands. When we walked out of the jewelry store, I immediately began crying happy tears. When we got home, Darren began his "fake proposals". He got down on one knee and then asked me "will you tie my shoe for me?". The next day, it was a fake proposal with his case for his glasses. The day after that it was with his face lotion container. This went on for almost the whole week, and I kept telling him his knee was going to get sore from all these fake proposals. Fast forward to Friday, February 11, 2022. This was a night we had all three of the kids. It was a pretty normal Friday night, which involved the kids playing together downstairs and us watching tv together upstairs. Little did I know, Darren had planned a proposal with the kids being involved. Aiden was told to call me downstairs saying he needed help with his tablet. Aiden called me down there to look at his tablet, saying there was something wrong with it. There was an error message about the Wifi connection. While I am looking at his tablet trying to troubleshoot the problem, Darren had come downstairs behind me. He had his son helping Aiden stay on track with the plan, and his daughter recording the whole thing on his phone. Aiden finally stops distracting me, and Darren was behind me on one knee with a book in his hand. I see it, laugh, and Darren laughs while asking "will you read this book to me?" I playfully jump on his back and think it is another fake proposal. I grab the book from him and then he pulls out the ring box. I am shocked and toss the book on the couch and begin to cry. He asks me to marry him and of course I say yes!
