It all started with a swipe ;)

In 2020, Adrianna was on vacation in Florida and Nick had just moved there a few months earlier. One night, fueled by a little liquid courage and a touch of dating app magic (courtesy of Bumble), their paths crossed. Adrianna, born and raised in Poland and living in Chicago at the time, was soaking up the last days of her trip. Nick, a New Jersey native, with a deep love for pizza, was simply in the right place at the right time. Nick asked her out for her favorite food (pizza, back then), and when the day of the date rolled around, the date almost didn’t happen. Thankfully, Adrianna’s best friend Daly convinced her to go — with location sharing turned on and a full escape plan in place. The pizza was average at best, but the company? Instantly unforgettable. What started as a casual “What’s the risk? I’ll never see him again” quickly turned into “It feels like we’ve known each other forever and I don’t want to leave.” Adrianna returned to Chicago, but the world soon flipped upside down. As chaotic as the pandemic was, it gave them something rare: time. Time to talk, to laugh, to grow closer. She flew back to Florida for Nick’s birthday, then delayed her return… again and again, until eventually, she just stayed. College classes moved online, quarantine life began, and they learned everything about each other very quickly — the weird, the wonderful, and the wonderfully weird. And to this day, Adrianna still wonders how they didn’t kill each other. Somehow, instead of driving each other crazy, they fell in love. Not long into their relationship, Adrianna met Nick’s parents and fell in love with them just as quickly. Their warmth, humor, and the way they welcomed her in made it feel like she’d found a second family. And when Nick met Adrianna’s mom and grandma, he embraced them with the same love and sincerity he shows everyone he cares about. He didn’t just win them over; he made them feel seen, valued, and effortlessly became part of the family. They bounced between Florida, Chicago, and New Jersey — navigating long-distance love, endless FaceTime calls, and chaotic airports/drives between states. Eventually, they decided to close the gap for good. Nick moved to Chicago so Adrianna could finish her senior year in person, and a few years later, they bought their first home together — married by mortgage, as they like to say — with their beloved dog Hank completing the family. Now, after six years of teasing each other, chasing new adventures, sharing countless home-cooked meals, late-night talks, and one very stubborn GPS that can’t seem to decide if they belong in the Midwest or the East Coast, they’re ready to make it official — surrounded by the people they love most.
