Adrianna and Maverick’s journey began on Juneteenth weekend in 2022, specifically June 18. Adrianna’s friend, Denise, invited her to a 30-minute run with the ZFT Running Club. Stepping out of her comfort zone, Adrianna agreed and brought her friend, Que, who decided to bring along her client, Maverick. As everyone gathered, Maverick was the first to arrive—classic him! To lighten the mood, he jokingly serenaded a group of older ladies with the Golden Girls theme song. It was such a funny moment that it broke the ice right away. When the 5K began, Maverick and Denise dashed off while Que and Adrianna settled into a steady walk/run pace. It quickly became clear who the pros were; Maverick and Denise looked winded but still standing, while Adrianna and Que were feeling completely wiped out. After the run, Maverick kindly grabbed waters for everyone, and they snapped a photo to remember the day—a day that unknowingly kicked off their marathon together, even if Maverick didn’t ask Adrianna out just yet. Fast forward to November, when Adrianna hosted a Friendsgiving. Que kept mentioning Maverick’s interest in Adrianna and suggested inviting him. After some thought, Adrianna agreed, feeling those butterflies fluttering. On Friendsgiving day, Maverick showed up first, of course! They sent him to H-E-B for champagne to buy Adrianna some time to get ready. When he returned, the evening was filled with delicious food, laughter, and games. Maverick even took out the trash, a huge win since Adrianna hates that chore. At the end of the night, he got some one-on-one time with Adrianna and expressed his interest, asking her out for the following Friday. Adrianna couldn’t hide her excitement, even teasing that she’d get his number from the event's Google Form. After the party, they talked for hours like high school sweethearts. Maverick, having learned about Adrianna’s love for Starbucks, surprised her on the day before Thanksgiving with two of her favorite drinks. As they spent the day together, Adrianna mentioned needing to drop off tables for her family gathering. Maverick offered to help, and when the tables didn’t fit in her Honda Civic, he suggested using his car. Adrianna called her sister-in-law, Ashley Hicks (Matron of Honor), to get her quick assessment of Maverick.
