Becoming the Burges

How Neighbors Became Everything

For nearly a year, we lived just steps away from each other — neighbors passing by in the parking lot, exchanging polite smiles, but never quite speaking. I (Mason) noticed her right away. Adrianna had this presence — warm, kind, graceful — the kind of presence you don’t forget. But every time I saw her, I couldn’t quite find the words. I wanted to talk to her. I wanted to ask her out. And after what felt like a hundred silent hellos, I finally worked up the nerve to do it. I asked her to go with me to a concert. She smiled… and said no. But a few weeks later, everything changed. Adrianna made her move: "Are you going to the gym? Can I ride with you?". It wasn't til months later, Adrianna told me it was because she had a nail in her tire. But from that moment on, the story of us began. What started as a quiet neighborly connection turned into something fast, strong, and real. We fell for each other — quickly and completely. We've traveled across the U.S. together, chased sunsets, walked hand-in-hand through cities we’d never seen before, and gone on dream vacations we used to only talk about. Every memory, every mile, brought us closer. Through it all, we’ve shared the simple joys too — dinners at home, long conversations, belly laughs, and the love of our sweet pup, Ricky (who is absolutely certain he is the center of this whole story). Our journey has been one of friendship, adventure, faith, and of course, a three-cent nail from Home Depot that I totally didn’t “accidentally” drop under her tire. Call it my best undercover romantic move yet. We can’t wait to celebrate our forever with you. With love, Adrianna & Mason
