We met through mutual friends just two weeks after Marissa moved to Texas. She had spent the day at Lady Bird Lake with a friend from her hometown who had already built a life in Austin and made the move feel a little less overwhelming. They were listening to music when she mentioned a few friends might meet them. A group walked up, introductions were made, and Adrian was part of that group. We started talking about weekend plans. Marissa and her friend were going to Six Flags the next morning. Adrian and his friends were going to a concert that night. After some back and forth, we made a pinky promise that if we all went to the concert, we would all go to Six Flags the next morning. At the time, neither of us knew if we would actually see each other again… A few hours later, there was a text about the concert and where to meet beforehand. The next morning, everyone showed up for Six Flags. We rode roller coasters all day, and at one point Adrian asked to hold hands on a ride “because he was scared”. That night there were fireworks. We found a spot in the grass, and Adrian said it felt like we were in a 90s rom-com. Then we kissed. The following Friday we had our first official date. We have been inseparable ever since. From the beginning, being together felt easy and natural. We didn’t have to force anything & everything just fell into place. Now we’re engaged, excited for the future, and ready to keep building a life and a family side by side.
