After a crazy night out at a Magic Mike performance in Deep Ellum, Brittany and her friends decided to go to Waco, Texas for the weekend to catch a Baylor vs. Xavier basketball game. This was not an unusual road trip from Dallas considering a big group of Brittany's friends grew up in Waco and Brittany's roommate at the time was a Xavier alum. After the game, they went back to the La Quinta to freshen up, it had been a rainy day and most of them didn't feel 100% due to the previous night out activities. After briefly contemplating just staying in, a friend convinced Brittany that they "wouldn't meet prince charming in a La Quinta hotel room" - so out they went. Brittany and her friends started with some drinks at George's (when in Waco, it's a must!), and then the Wacoans picked the next stop - Trojans. Now if you've never been to Waco, let's explain Trojans so you have a better idea of exactly what kind of place it is. It is a VERY small bar (probably 15 feet by 50 feet tops), and sits under the stairs to a cute little retail shop called Spice. Brittany had been a few times and she loved the small space, the throwback music, and the $2 shot sign! So to Trojans they went...
So let's fast forward to the "meet cute"... As Brittany and her friends enjoyed themselves at Trojans one of the friends they were out with looks across the room and sees this tall guy with a Cowboys sweatshirt on. He turns to Brittany and says "I think that's Dak Prescott!" Brittany knew the Cowboys had played on Thursday of that week, so she turned back to him and said, "do you really think Dak Prescott is going to spend his weekend off in Waco, Texas?" He then bet her a beer and shot that she would not walk up to this guy and ask him. So what did Brittany do? She walked right up to Adrian and said, "Hey, my friend thinks your Dak Prescott and I know you aren't but I need you to say it." After confirming that he is not, in fact, Dak Prescott Brittany and Adrian began talking. In a bar this size, Brittany and Adrian's friends naturally began to mingle. It turned out that Adrian was out with his mom for her birthday, and they were bar hopping through the night on a party bus. After talking for what seemed like forever, Adrian's group decided to hop to the next bar. He didn't ask for Brittany's number, so she thought, "just another guy, just another bar". The two groups of friends parted ways, and Brittany's friend group bounced to the next bar. When she walked into Muddle (another Waco tradition), she instantly spotted Adrian across the room again, and her heart knew. Brittany decided she was going to play hard to get since he hadn't asked for her number at the last place, so she walked to the opposite end of the bar and bought herself a drink. Before she had been given the drink, Adrian was standing next to her. Adrian and Brittany chatted, laughed and danced for the rest of the night, and it felt like they had known each other for years. It was easy and it was an instant connection, even if neither wanted to admit it yet.
As the night came to an end, Adrian and Brittany's friends slowly left one-by-one. One of Adrians mom's friends let Adrian know they were leaving on the party bus soon, and he should say his goodbyes. The couple finally exchanged numbers and Adrian called a Lyft for Brittany to take her back to the hotel she was staying in, and he sat and waited with her for the car to arrive. They continued to chat outside, both unsure of what would happen next when out of nowhere they heard chanting coming from the party bus that was waiting on Adrian to leave. It was then the couple realized, his mom and her friends were all chanting "KISS HER"! Before either knew it, they shared their first kiss! Fast forward to why we are here telling you this story. After that night, both of their lives changed. They spent the next month texting, talking on the phone, and snapchatting one another until Adrian came to spend the weekend in Dallas to meet Brittany's friends just before New Years 2017. On New Year's Eve they made it official (there was even a contract presented to them LOL), and the last four years have been full of memories. They were long distance between Dallas and Waco until May 2018, and then Adrian decided to take the leap and move to Dallas with Brittany. He proposed on February 28th, 2020 (LEAP DAY!) at The Dallas Arboretum with his mom hiding around corners to snap candid photos of the big moment. Their story is just beginning, and they are so excited to get to celebrate the BEST DAY EVER with the people that mean the most to them! There's not doubt that Adrian and Brittany found their #HappilyEverHarralson.
