1. Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure date from Italy. It should have been issued within the last ten years. 2. Flight Tickets: Please ensure you have round-trip or onward travel tickets. 3. Travel Itinerary: Keep a copy of your travel itinerary or proof of accommodation (like hotel bookings) handy. 4. Travel Insurance (Highly Recommended): We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers health, accidents, and repatriation.
Ravello is a town atop the cliffs overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Almost everything in Ravello is within walking distance once you arrive in the main town square. There are a few larger hotels in the town, as well as several smaller bed & breakfast's, AirBnB's and VRBO. Please visit our travel page for more information.
Ravello sits up on top of the mountains, requiring a drive (or a hike) to the beach, therefor some of our guests may prefer to stay closer to the beach. The town of Amalfi is an oceanfront town that is about a 15 minute drive to Ravello. There are a few other smaller towns such as Atrani, Minori and Maiori that are also oceanfront, but not as popular as Amalfi. All are a short drive to Ravello.
Unfortunately, there is not, because Ravello is an international wedding destination, weddings take place every day of the week. We would recommend booking your hotel or airbnb/vrbo as quickly as possible if attending is even a possibility. Most airbnb's have free cancellation up to as little a few weeks prior to the start date of your reservation.
Ravello is a little over an hour from the Naples Airport and Naples Train Station. There are a few options: 1) the SITA bus is a very cheap way to get to Ravello (few euros per person), 2) you can take a private car from Naples to Ravello, 3) You can actually get from Naples to Amalfi by boat and hop in a taxi for the 10 minute drive from Amalfi to Ravello. This could be the most scenic way to get to Ravello! If you contact our planner Mario Capuano directly, he works closely with a private transfer service and can help you book your car services from Naples.
Rental cars are available, but be sure to check that your hotel/rental offers a parking space. Because Ravello is so small and a rental car isn't needed to get around the actual town (the town square is actually closed to cars), many accommodations have limited/paid parking only for guests! Also, please be advised that the roads along the Amalfi Coast itself are extremely narrow and windy. It is recommended to use public transportation unless you are an expert driver. We have also listed a scooter rental company suggested by our planner under our travel page. Many tourists use public transportation to get to Ravello, and then rent a Vespa scooter to use during their time on the coast to get around!
Simple answer - Yes! Per the US Italian Embassy website "Americans visiting Italy as tourists and intending to drive should obtain an International Driving Permit before leaving the U.S. If the permit expires while abroad, you may apply for a new one by mail through the American Automobile Association (AAA), Worldwide Travel Dept., 1000 AAA Dr., Heathrow, FL 32746, tel. (407) 444-7000, fax (407) 444-7380. Tourists may also use their valid American driver’s license if accompanied by an official translation in Italian." The process itself can be completed online in just a few minutes. If you are a AAA member, you can also easily apply in person at one of their locations.
In August, the weather on the Amalfi Coast in Italy is typically hot and sunny, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to the mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 24-30 degrees Celsius). It's one of the warmest months of the year in this region. The sea temperature is also quite pleasant, making it ideal for swimming and water activities. However, it's important to note that August can also bring occasional heatwaves, so be prepared for very warm days. Additionally, there may be some crowds as it's a popular time for tourists to visit the Amalfi Coast.
Of course!
