Please RSVP by May 1st at the latest. We are hoping to have ample time to secure the limited housing available on Islesboro.
We hope to create an intimate atmosphere during our wedding, and have limited our plus ones to friends and family in relationships where we are close with both parties.
Don't miss the last ferry! It will be difficult to make it to the island til the next day if you do. If you miss it, there is a water taxi service called the Quicksilver that you can call, though it is better to book them in advance. If many people are arriving after 5, we may charter their boat to bring people to the island. Or you can hitch a ride with a fisherman :) There is an extremely limited chance that we can pick you up in our boat (our whole family will be busy preparing for the wedding, so please do your best to make it on time). If none of these options work, there are some very quaint roadside motels and seaside hotels in Camden and Lincolnville, use it as a chance to explore more of Maine.
Yes! Tickborne illnesses are common in the northeast, perhaps worse on Islesboro. Please read the personal care tips (https://ticksonislesboro.com/personal-care), but don't stress too much. Just make sure to tick check every 24 hours. If you find a tick that has been attached longer than 24 hours, go to the health center right away! If you catch it in the first 3 days, you will be given a large, single, antibiotic dose rather than the more unpleasant 2 week dose. https://townofislesboro.com/departments/health-center/
Bug Spray/Eucalyptus Oil (Ticks are a problem on the island) Water Shoes/Sandals Swimsuit Raincoat (just in case) Sweater/warm layer for the evening Shorts Wedding attire
Please refrain from driving to the property, unless you have a full carpool and designated driver. We are considering chartering vans and busses should there be enough interest.
