Meet Cute

Davis, CA | 2012

We met the third day we moved to Davis. He was the bike guy; she was the girl on the third floor. Throw in some mutual friends, a love for the California Aggie Band-Uh!, and one agonizing literature class...the rest is history. Over a few months, and some late nights spent sharing favorite songs with each other, our friendship turned into romance. Adrian made it official one night in January 2013 when he asked Marisa to be his girlfriend during a late night bike ride (how else?). Over the past decade, our romance has turned into an enduring love, and we are so excited and honored to celebrate it with all of you!

The Proposal

Seattle, WA | 2020

Fast forward to September 2020: Adrian is still the bike guy, and now we both live on the third floor. With Marisa out of grad school, Adrian settled in at work, and a dog to call our own, we knew there was only one thing left to do (though really - who didn't see this coming?). After designing the perfect ring together earlier in the year, Adrian managed to hide the ring in our apartment for six months while he decided how to propose. After all, he had already made her wait almost 8 years! With the perfect storm of COVID and Washington fires keeping everyone inside, it seemed like the planned walk with friends wouldn't happen that day. By a stroke of luck, the weather cleared up enough to head to the Washington Park Arboretum. After a walk filled with everyone except Marisa huddled around a map (she should have known), they found the perfect place to rest on the banks of Lake Washington. Before she knew what was going on, Marisa was holding a bouquet, and Adrian was on one knee in front of her. The proposal began with "I know I've made you wait a long time..." and ended with Marisa having to say "yes" twice - once for Adrian to process, and the second for him to start breathing again. Everyone clapped, even the strangers at the picnic table next to them.
