I met Heather during my second year at Western. Little did I know that my journey with Heather had just begun and our friendship would be so unbreakable. It was weird, there was an immediate connection from the very beginning. Having very different lives that were so similar. Heather and I both got heavily involved with our Black Student Union and organizing on campus in general. Unintentionally, we both were brought to Baltimore post undergrad. Both beginning new chapters of our lives in completely new areas, gave us the opportunity to connect in so many deep and unexpected ways. I love you Heather and am truly honored to be your Maid of Honor!

I met Adrian in the summer of 2008 when he arrived at an SGA meeting to be interviewed for a position he had applied for. Our friendship started out with a bit of friendly competition, but that quickly turned into a brotherhood that I couldn’t imagine my life without. I have known Adrian for over 10 years, during that time we’ve supported each other through the many highs and the many lows in our life (and believe me, there were many). As Adrian gets ready to embark upon the journey of marriage, I am honored to be able to celebrate this moment with him, and in turn gain a sister in the process.

Adrian’s parents and mine were good friends before either one of us were in the picture. I’m lucky to say I came into this world already with a best friend. Adrian and I have been through almost every major life change together from diapers to home buying and now weddings.  When Adrian first told me about Heather I knew from his conversation that she had to be someone special. Watching their relationship blossom into the love they share has been a beautiful thing to witness. I couldn’t have imagined my own wedding day without Adrian by my side and now I get the extraordinary privilege of standing for his.

It’s October 2010 and I’ve just arrived to Miami as a young girl in the military, freshly settled in a two-bedroom apartment. I hear a knock at the door, I swing it open, and it was this curly-haired girl grinning back at me. It was like looking back at my own reflection! We’ve laughed together, cried together, joked, travelled, partied, danced until the sun came up. We’ve encouraged each other, supported each other, vented to each other, and inspired each other. While the military was not the right environment for either of us, it gifted me YOU, Heath. It’s no coincidence we were paired together as roomies. Our bond is from God and I’m grateful He placed us in each other’s paths. From roomies to soul sisters! Across time and space. So honored to walk this journey with you!

I first met Adrian in 88...while he was still in the womb. Ever since, we were raised as cousin-brothers. I always felt the pressure of Adrian looking up to me and so I always knew that I had to set an example for him to follow. He continues to exceed my expectations. And then when he brought Heather to Jacksonville for the first time I knew the student had passed the master! I’m just happy to have him as a brother, cousin, and friend but most importantly I’m honored to welcome a new sister into the fold! I love y’all and the SPECIAL DAY will be one in a long line of many. Cheers to true love!

Hands down, all my favorite college memories to think back on have been the ones I made with Heather! We went through so many ups and downs together and I can say in confidence that I don’t think I would’ve made it out with the same experience without her love and support. We marched in the streets by day and twerked at the club by night lol. I’ll never forget the summer we both spoke summer internships on the east coast into existence. The friendship and sisterhood was always a place for joy, laughter, and peace during our time in college. We initially connected during conversations on our hopes and visions for liberation and justice and of course, slay-ing. We’ve been able to travel together and encourage each other’s personal growth across the country. Supporting the love between Heather and Adrian has been such an honor. There are few things greater than unifying two remarkable people of healthy boundless love. Adrian and I met when we both showed up a day early for a job interview in 2012, and We were cool from day one. We promised to look out for each other to make sure that we both got hired, We both got the job but that was just the beginning. Lol. Between botched rental car returns, crazy campaigns, crazy travels, moving fiascos (lmao), and campaign blow ups (I’m sure there’s still a dent in that elevator door. Lol), we became family. Having a homie here in Baltimore definitely made the transition to move to Baltimore easier. I appreciate having people like Adrian and Heather in my families lives and I’m honored to be a part of Adrian and Heathers special day.

Adrian and I met in the summer of 2008 in the line to get into a Que party outside of Floyd's Nightclub in Tallahassee. We were both GDI-ing going to this Que party. From that night we would build a bond that saw us become opponents for BSU VP, line brothers, roommates, and truly great friends. I met Heather on one of her and Adrian's trips to Atlanta. They stayed at my apartment and Heff was just cool AF. We all even came up with her infamous nickname HEFFLEBUTTER. I am truly honored to be a part of the wedding of two amazing people who love and improve each other and lift one another to higher heights!
