Why not?
We wanted to share our little corner of the world. People think of the "Jersey Shore" or "New York City suburbs" but neither really apply. With ferry access to the city, we remain in commuting range without the hustle and bustle.
We are cautiously optimistic that by September enough people will be vaccinated that we can achieve herd immunity to the point that there will be no masks in our wedding photos. If things don't improve sufficiently where we can safely have everyone travel in, we will definitely consider postponing until such time as we can all gather in safety.
We tried to get a large block of rooms for the weekend, but ran into issues due to the number of weddings and other events postponed due to COVID. We were only able to get a block of about 10 rooms at the Molly Pitcher in. So we have been reserving rooms under our own names as they become available. We have an additional 5 rooms at the Molly Pitcher Inn, and 4 others at the Oyster Point Hotel around the corner. Please reach out to us and we can transfer one of these reservations to you. Additionally, there is a Quality Inn in Middletown/Red Bank that is not too far away. We tried to find something a little closer to the house, but the one hotel in the area (the Blue Bay Inn) appears to have closed down due to COVID and we aren't sure when it will re-open. If it does, we will let everyone know.
You can fly into Newark Airport (a little under an hour away), or JFK airport is about 90 minutes away across the Verrazano bridge. If you happen to be in the city, you can explore the Seastreak ferry which brings you into Highlands, NJ - walking distance from our house.
Our goal is for people to be comfortable. So a suit or jacket and tie are fine for men. No need to run out and buy clothes, wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. (Unless buying new clothes makes you feel comfortable, in which case have at it.)
The wedding will be held onboard the Festiva, which is docked at the Atlantic Highlands Marina. There is ample free parking for the Marina. When you arrive please go to Frank's Pier which can be found directly behind the building containing the two restaurants: "On the Deck" and "Sissy's". Near the end of the pier you will find the FESTIVA. Boarding will begin around 11:30 am with the boat setting sail promptly at noon.
