The Beginning

Our Beginning

Our story began in Sterling Heights, Michigan, where our first date set the tone for the beautiful journey ahead. I remember feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as I arrived at Josh’s apartment. We decided to keep it casual—ordering delicious Chinese food from Jay's Ding Ho. As we picked it up, we shared laughs and music, instantly connecting over our favorite songs. Back at his place, we settled in for a cozy movie night, but it was the conversations that truly captivated me. With every word, I could feel his kindness, honesty, and gentle spirit drawing me in. That first kiss is a moment I’ll never forget—a spark that ignited something special between us. After that night, I found myself eagerly anticipating our next meetings. By our third date, Josh took a brave step and asked me, “I really like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” With a heart full of joy, I said yes, marking the start of our incredible adventure together!

When we knew...

Every love story encounters its share of obstacles, and ours is no different. Throughout our time together, we've faced significant challenges, including the heartbreaking loss of loved ones. These moments tested our resilience but also deepened our bond. We learned to lean on each other, finding strength in our shared grief and supporting one another through the toughest times. Communication has been our guiding light. We’ve always made it a priority to express our feelings, whether we're celebrating joyous moments or navigating difficult emotions. Through reasoning and respect, we've cultivated a safe space where we can be honest and open, allowing us to truly understand each other. In addition to overcoming trials, we fill each day with laughter, making each other our best friends. We motivate one another to be better people, always encouraging personal growth and pursuing our dreams. Our respect for each other runs deep, creating a foundation of trust that allows us to thrive together. During times of sickness, sadness, or frustration, we are there for one another, offering comfort and care. Our kindness and big-heartedness shine through, reminding us of the importance of putting each other first. We keep each other grounded, always supporting one another and staying on track, no matter the challenges we face. These trials have not only tested us but have also shown us the depth of our love. We know that together, there is nothing we cannot overcome, and every day is a testament to our shared journey filled with laughter, friendship, and unwavering support. Josh proposed to Adrian September 1st 2025 in the kitchen of their Lake Orion home, after dancing. She said, "Your the best man I've ever met. Absolutely, yes."

The Ceremony

November 22nd, 2025

On November 22nd, 2025, we celebrated our love with a Pagan Handfasting Ceremony at the enchanting Hawk Woods Park in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We kept our gathering intimate, inviting only a few close friends and family to join us in this sacred moment. For us, it was not just a wedding; it was a deeply personal and spiritual experience that allowed us to focus on the significance of our union. With the bright sun shining and a crisp chill in the air, the setting felt magical. Surrounded by nature, we sensed the universe blessing our union. Our dear friend, Joe Quinn Kirkland III, officiated the ceremony, guiding us through our vows with warmth and wisdom. His presence added special meaning, as he was not only our minister but also a cherished friend. The energy during the ceremony was palpable, enveloping us in peace and love. As we stood together, we could feel the magic in the air, a warm embrace surrounding us. We exchanged vows, promising to support and cherish each other for all eternity. The ceremony was filled with laughter and tears of joy, creating a beautiful tapestry of emotions. Our Handfasting ritual symbolized the binding of our lives, intertwining our destinies and honoring the sacred energy shared with the Gods and Goddesses we hold dear. It was a moment that transcended time, marking a magical union that we believe will span lifetimes.

The Ceremony Beginning

Opening and Invocation Officiant: "Friends, family, and honored guests, we gather today in this sacred space to witness the union of two loving souls, Josh and Adrian. We are here on this auspicious day to celebrate their love and commitment, and to ask for the blessings of the spirits, the gods and goddesses, and our ancestors upon their union." Now you will feel no storms, for each of you will be shelter to the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there is no loneliness, for each of you is companion to the other, You are two persons, but there is one life before you, and one home. Turn together to look at the road you traveled, to reach this—the hour of your happiness. It stretches behind you into the past. Look to the future that lies ahead. A long and winding, adventure-filled road, whose every turn means discovery, new hopes, new joys, new laughter, and a few shared tears. May happiness be your companion, May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead; And through all the years to come. Go this day to your dwelling place and enter into your days together. May your days be good and long upon the earth. Your adventure has just begun! Blessing of the Directions / Elements Officiant: "Let us now turn to the four corners of the world and the four elements, and ask for their blessings on this marriage." "To the East, the direction of the rising sun, we call upon the spirit of Air. May your communication be clear, your ideas flow freely, and your minds be open to new adventures." "To the South, the direction of the noonday sun, we call upon the spirit of Fire. May your passion for each other burn brightly, your love be a guiding flame, and your home be filled with warmth." "To the West, the direction of the setting sun, we call upon the spirit of Water. May your emotions run as deep as the ocean, your relationship be fluid and refreshing, and your love be a source of comfort and solace." "To the North, the direction of the ancient earth, we call upon the spirit of Earth. May your marriage be fertile and abundant, your bond be steadfast, and your union provide you with enduring security." OFFICIANT: Thank you for coming today to support Josh and Adrian with your presence and loving energy. Today we call upon the divine elements - earth, water, air, and fire - to bring to this union the same harmony that they share. We know that coexistence is the key to a mutual, loving partnership. It is through these four elements we understand how one has the power to make another stronger. Today we ask the elements to share with Josh and Adrian some of their most magnificent features: From Air, we ask for lightheartedness, curiosity, playfulness, and peace. From Fire, we ask for courage, passion, radiance, and warmth. From Water, we ask for stillness, strength, creativity, and flow. From Earth, we ask for humility, friendship, gratitude, and growth. As witnesses to this event, do you hereby agree that these elements have blessed Josh and Adrian for ever more? OFFICIANT : We cannot deny Josh and Adrian their passage into marriage any longer. They are proud to have gathered their closest community around them during this special time. We ask that each of you holds in your hearts a blessing for this couple as they now say their vows.

The Ceremony Middle

OFFICIANT (to Josh): Please repeat after me I, Joshua take you, Adrian to be my wedded wife. To hold in the highest of light, day in and day out, through the storms, and the rain and the wonderful mysteries of this life. I promise you faithfulness, compassion, and friendship from this day forward until we have no more days remaining. OFFICIANT (to Adrian): Ok Adrian now it’s your turn. I, Adrian, take you, Josh, to be my husband. To hold in the highest of light, day in and day out, through the storms, and the rain and the wonderful mysteries of this life. I promise you faithfulness, loyalty, compassion, and friendship from this day forward until we have no more days remaining. Handfasting and Vows Officiant: "Now, the time has come to bind your lives together. Josh and Adrian, I now ask you to join hands for the handfasting." Officiant: "Before you make your vows, let us speak of the hands that will now be joined forever." Officiant: (To the couple) "These are the hands that will passionately love you. These are the hands that will cherish you through the years. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. These are the hands that will help you build your life together."

The Ceremony End

Vows: --- My beloved Josh, Today, under the watchful gaze of the moon and the whispers of the ancient winds, I stand before you, a humble witch, ready to bind our souls in love and magic. With Bastet as our guardian, I vow to cherish our feline companions, nurturing them as extensions of our love. May her watchful eye protect our home, filling it with warmth and joy. I promise to honor Anubis, who guides us with the feather of truth, ensuring that our hearts remain open and honest, even in the face of the storms that may come our way. Together, we will embrace the truth of our feelings, standing united against any challenge that may arise. With Thoth, may my words weave the spells of our love, rich in meaning and intent. I vow to communicate openly, fostering understanding and compassion in our union. As we journey through life, I will call upon Ganesh to clear our paths, protecting our travels, whether together or apart. I pledge to always return to you, heart and soul, for you are my home. May we live richly, in health, love, and wealth, embracing each day as a gift. When strife strikes, I promise to stand by your side, hand in hand, so we may face troubles and tribulations as one, emerging stronger every time. On this sacred Saturday, blessed by Saturn, I invite his protection over our wedding day. May Hera, goddess of marriage, guide us through our vows, ensuring our love endures through all seasons of life. Lastly, I honor Freya, the goddess of love and cats, invoking her spirit to bless our union with passion and joy. Together, let us create a life filled with laughter, magic, and endless love, as we walk this path hand in hand, forever entwined in the tapestry of our shared journey. Josh: My beloved Adrian, you know you mean the world to me. I'll love you long after the end of my days, and I found a poem I thought reflected this. : “I take you my heart At the rising of the moon And the setting of the Stars, To love and honor Through all that may come. Through all our lives together In all our lives, May we be reborn That we may meet and know And love again, And remember.” --- Ring Exchange OFFICIANT (to congregation): It’s time to exchange rings. Each ring is a symbol of the never-ending trust and commitment you share. There is no beginning, and there is no end. For the shared experience of a lifetime is too great to limit to earthly terms. Pronouncement OFFICIANT (to couple): By the power vested in me by the Universal Life Church Ministries and the divine forces of nature, I now pronounce you lawfully and spiritually wed. You are joined now beyond love and into the heavens: you may kiss!
