Steve proposed on sandstone with our campervan in the background and Lexi at our side — all elements which we’re bringing into our wedding. Steve picked up the ring the last hour before the pandemic lockdown. The next day, we hit the road for our first van adventure out in the remote desert of Gold Butte National Monument. We found a perfect, secluded camping spot below a sandstone cliff (with an eagle’s nest!) to ourselves. It was there, sharing a beautiful desert sunset that - even though it was totally unplanned - Steve felt the moment was too perfect NOT to propose. He spoke of a future full of shared adventures. There were lots of tears, and Adria said yes. Which is why we’re all coming together for an October sunset to celebrate in 2021!
After exchanging long messages online, one lazy Sunday morning Steve invited Adria to join the hike he was heading to. We, two planners, were both surprised when she said yes, spur of the moment. Unbeknownst to Adria, Steve was already on his way out of town and turned around to drive 30 minutes back to pick her up. Adria sent this stranger’s photo and name to her sister (just in case!) and our first meeting was actually in an elementary school parking lot. Our hiking date felt so good that, after Steve dropped her off, Adria called him only a few hours later to invite him downtown for craft beer that very night. So our first date was really TWO dates!
