Sometimes, love begins in the most unexpected ways. For Adlih and Carson, it all started with a lighthearted joke that blossomed into something extraordinary. I have had the pleasure of being able to call Adlih my best friend for almost a decade, I have watched her grow into the beautiful woman that you all know her as today. Carson on the other hand, I've only known for a few short years. He luckily came into the picture through a mutual friend at the time. One day, Carson jokingly asked, "Hey, do you have any hot friends?" I laughed, showed him a picture of Adlih, and he instantly declared, “That’s my future wife.” At the time, it seemed like harmless fun—after all, Carson was living in Germany, serving in the United States Air Force. I told Adlih about it, and we all laughed it off. Fate, however, had other plans. On December 18th, 2022, everything changed. Carson happened to be in town the same night as a birthday party I was hosting. Both Carson and Adlih knew they’d meet at the party and continued their playful “husband and wife” banter leading up to it. That night, when they finally met, their first words to each other were, “Hi, Husband,” and “Hi, Wife.” They flirted and laughed the night away, not thinking much of it—after all, Carson would soon return to Germany. But when he did, their connection only grew stronger. They stayed in touch, texting and joking until one day, Adlih called me to tell me she was going to visit Carson in Germany—for a month! What started as a fun trip to explore and travel quickly turned into a whirlwind romance. They wandered through Germany, fell deeply in love, and made unforgettable memories together. Though she started her journey saying, “I’m not looking for anything serious,” fate had other plans. Adlih returned to the U.S., and they made their long-distance love work against all odds. She traveled back to Germany to be with Carson once again, and together, they explored Croatia, France, Germany, and beyond. In February, Carson completed his service in the Air Force and moved back to the United States. They settled in Nevada, building a life together filled with love and adventure. On one of their many hikes, Carson got down on one knee and asked Adlih to marry him. With the most beautiful ring and an even more beautiful love story, she said yes. Looking back, I’m so grateful for that jokingly yet fateful introduction. Even if Carson hadn’t asked me that silly little question that night, years ago, I know in my heart they would have found each other—because Adlih and Carson are the epitome of soulmates.
