We met in the middle of a whirlwind—and somehow, in all the chaos, we found something real. I like to think the universe knew we were meant to meet and go through life together. From that moment on, we’ve been all in. We’ve built a pretty amazing life together: our son Layton keeps us on our toes, our dog Moose keeps us laughing, and we’ve had one adventure after another—new careers, traveling, buying a house, and everything in between. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but it’s been ours, and every moment has been worth it. We’ve grown up together, built a life as a team, and can’t wait for all the adventures still to come. He puts up with my inability to sit still, my constant need to plan something, my habit of buying flowers and loving them so aggressively they die, and my ever-growing collection of tea towels and decorative pillows — and I put up with his never-ending love for smoking meats, his refusal to miss a football game, his borderline-romantic relationship with fly fishing, his ridiculous number of hats, and the fact that he keeps the air conditioning so low our house feels like a walk-in freezer. The Heron Room, located within Mill No. 1 in Baltimore, is a wedding and event venue with a rich history tied to the original cotton mill complex. Mill No. 1 was originally built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and served as a major producer of cotton duck fabric. The Heron Room itself, situated on the lower level of the Picker Building, retains many of the original industrial elements from that era, such as cast-iron columns and vaulted ceilings. Mill No. 1 was established to meet the demand for cotton duck fabric, which was used in various products like sails, uniforms, and tents. Today, Mill No. 1 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Heron Room preserves the architectural details of the original mill buildings.
