Matron of Honor
Hannah is married to my cousin Olie, and I am so incredibly grateful he brought her into my life. Our relationship got off to a slow start but we’ve been inseparable ever since we realized how much we enjoy each other. Hannah knew about and supported Kayden & I long before we started dating - back when I was trying to find out if he was interested in me or if he was just being nice. She is a calming, reassurance when life gets hard. I can always count on her for a spicy comment and a good laugh. She is also the type of wife and mom I hope to embody one day. I love that we only live an hour apart and she lets me crash on their couch whenever I want. It was a no brainer she would be standing with me today.
Best Man
Deciding who my best man would be was not an easy decision to make. When making this decision, I considered who would be able to best support me leading up to the big day, and afterwards. Since I met him, Olie has been very welcoming of me to the Voight family and very supportive of mine and Lorryn’s relationship. Since Hannah and Lorryn are so close, I found myself spending a lot of time with Olie. He is the one that invited me to join the Wednesday night softball league which is where I really got to know everyone else in the family. He has shown me that he will be supportive not only for me, but us as a couple.
Bridesmaid
Melissa and I met while in the athletic training program at Benedictine. Melissa jokes that she annoyed me with her friendship on me until I accepted her!! We became especially close once I moved back to Atchison after living in Italy. She and I studied for our board exams together, supported each other through graduate school, and went on many adventures together. She kept me grounded and helped me find my sense of adventure as I missed it after returning to the states. We grew apart when "real life" after school set in, but we found our way back to each other during covid. Her husband, Jacob, is also a teacher and baseball coach so we often call each other during the lonely spring nights. I am so happy she was able to be here with me today!
Groomsman
One of my best friends since elementary school, Jared has been around for a long time. From taking swimming lessons together, to playing basketball all through high school, and even going through college together, Jared has always been in my life. His comic relief will not only make the day more enjoyable, but help ease my nerves. Jared is somebody I want to be around on this special day for me.
Bridesmaid
Katie and I met when we studied abroad in Italy (She claims we became friends when I "strongly encouraged" her to be in a picture with me during our first day in Rome) ...and she has been a constant in my life ever since. Katie is the type of friend that is always there, no matter what she may be facing herself. She has had a judgement free ear whenever I’ve needed to vent & has supported me through all the ups and downs the last decade has thrown my way. She is a regular reminder of how much I’ve grow as a person thanks to her friendship and wisdom. Our daily texts make me feel like she is right down the road instead of 500 miles away and our yearly visits are a highlight of my year!! I am so incredibly blessed to have her by my side today.
Groomsman
Brother of the bride, James has been very accepting of me. Either coming up for a weekend to spend time with us or letting us go down to Milwaukee, James is always wanting to spend time with us. He has been so supportive of our relationship, we couldn’t imagine our big day without him at our side.
Bridesmaid
Hans (pronounced like dance as she jokingly shared with the rest of the bridal party) is my oldest friend. We met in Mr. Connor's 3rd grade class after I moved to Rio. She befriended me quickly...and the rest is history. She attended the Air Force Academy when I attended Benedictine. We wrote letters back and forth and relied on each others' friendship for the next four years. I would not be the person I am today if Hans didn't push me every day. I have visited her in four states thus far and look forward to our next adventure. Hans embodies what a true friend is and although we don’t see each other as much as I’d like, every time we pick back up right where we left off. I am so glad my birthday buddy is able to stand by my side today.
Groomswoman
Former teacher of and current friend & mentor of the groom, Molly has always been supportive of me and my aspirations of life. Molly is responsible for giving me the not so gentle push to ask Lorryn out on our first date. I look up to Molly as a teacher and Lorryn looks up to her as a person. We know she will be supportive of us not just today, but in all the days to come. It was important for me to have Molly standing by my side today.
Bridal Bestie
Jackie is not a blood cousin of mine. However, over the last few years she has become my confidant. She is the big sister I never had but always longed for. Jackie is the first person I text (or Marco Polo) if I have good news to share, need to vent, need advice and everything in-between. The way she pours into everyone she cares about is admirable. She will put aside her own responsibilities to listen to and help me through mine. She also adopts the cutest puppies that bring joy to everyone’s day! I strive to be like her when I’m a “real” grown up. I am so glad she is able to be here today!
Something Blue
Mary is my favorite sister-in-law. We initially bonded over our love of travel, our healthcare profession, and James. However, since she moved to Wisconsin, she has become a go-to for new recipes, gardening tricks, and everything in between. I enjoy our weekend trips to the city, where Mary always has a new place to try. She has been supportive during the wedding planning process and of Kayden and my relationship in general. When it came time to choose our wedding party, it only made sense to include Mary today.
Bridal Bestie
Amber is a jack of all trades kind of friend. Need a lifting buddy, she’s it. Want to watch reality TV and just relax, she’s there. Need someone to keep a secret, Amber is your girl. She is responsible for helping me DIY a number of things you will see at our venue during our Wednesday night dates. Amber is the kind of friend that will always be supportive while also asking the hard questions that you may not want to face. She played a huge role in Kayden and I coming together in the first place so it only made sense for her to play a role in our big day.
Ushers
Said to be the favorite nephew of the groom, Logan has always felt like the little brother I never had. We have very similar interests and personalities making him easy to get along with. He also enjoys making jokes about how I am shorter than Lorryn, which is how I knew he accepted her into the family. Cali is sweet, outgoing, and can talk to anyone. She has been very welcoming of Lorryn into the Yoss family. We thought these two would be the best at making everyone feel welcome and excited for our big day.
Flower Guy
Dyl is my first friend from Benedictine. We had the same majors and most of the same classes so we spent a lot of time together. After Benedictine, we attended Wichita State together. We spent hours studying, watching Friends, and deciding what our futures would look like. He quickly became a big brother figure to me, even though he blames me for the receding hair line at such a young age 😂. I asked him years ago to fill this role on my wedding day and I am so thankful he was willing to sacrifice a day of hunting to be here!
Guest Book Attendant
Makayla is my very talkative and exuberant niece. Growing up in a house full of brothers, she just adores Lorryn (and Tuck Tuck) as someone to talk with. Her love for talking with everyone makes her the perfect guestbook attendant
Ring Bearers
Journey, Jack, Jett, & Judd are Hannah and Olie’s kids. I have spent quality time with them since I moved back to Wisconsin (just before Jack was born) - even though Jack now asks for Kayden anytime I call or visit. It only felt right to include them on our special day. However, when we asked them to be apart of our big day, Jack and Jett both said no and only wanted the M&Ms we brought as a treat 😂 Journey assured us that she and Judd would at least fulfill the role 🥰
