Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We ask our guests to wear dressy summer attire. This includes knee-length/midi dresses or sundresses and jumpsuits for women. Men would be fine in slacks + button up or sport jackets. While Indian dress is not required, please consider wearing something colorful to represent celebration. Generally, aim to avoid red and white solid colors. Please note that part of the wedding may be outside in the morning. Here is a link with some examples! https://www.theknot.com/content/what-to-wear-dressy-casual

Question

What can I expect at the Indian ceremony?

Answer

There are a couple Tamil traditions we'll be following. Here are a few, but more details will be provided on the day! 1. Kanya Thaanam – Giving away the Bride. The bride's parents hand her over to the Groom as they ask him to look over her. 2. Garland exchange and Thali. The bride and groom place flower garlands around the other's necks, and the groom ties a gold necklace around the bride, signifying unification between families. 3. Saptapadi – The Seven Steps The bride and groom circle a fire 7 times while reciting the 7 vows of marriage.
