FAQsFAQs

Question

Are there any local celebrations during our wedding weekend? Are there any local celebrations during our wedding weekend?

Answer

Yes—in the best way! Our wedding week coincides with Mexico’s Independence Day celebrations on September 15–17, one of the most exciting times to be in San Miguel. Expect festive crowds, mariachi, fireworks, and lots of patriotic spirit throughout the city. We recommend making restaurant reservations in advance and planning ahead for popular spots. Bonus points if you pack something red, white, or green and join in the celebration!

Question

How should I travel around San Miguel de Allende? How should I travel around San Miguel de Allende?

Answer

We do not recommend renting a car in San Miguel. The town is compact, charmingly walkable, and best explored on foot. Its narrow, cobblestone streets add to the charm, but comfortable shoes are a must. Taxis and Ubers are plentiful and affordable. Local taxis are green and white, with daytime fares averaging about 60 pesos (around $4 USD) and slightly higher rates at night. Please note that taxis in San Miguel do not have meters and only accept pesos. Drivers rarely carry change, so keep small bills handy, and plan to tip 10–15% of your fare.

Question

How do I get to Casa Chorro? Can I walk? How do I get to Casa Chorro? Can I walk?

Answer

Yes! Casa Chorro is about a 5-minute walk from the city center and most of our recommended hotels. It’s an easy and beautiful walk - but if your shoes say otherwise, taxis and Ubers are quick and readily available.

Question

What will the weather be like? What will the weather be like?

Answer

September in San Miguel de Allende is warm, green, and beautiful - expect sunny days in the upper 70s to low 80s and cooler evenings in the 50s - we recommend an extra layer...just in case as all events will take place outdoors!

Question

Should I bring Mexican pesos?Should I bring Mexican pesos?

Answer

While many places in San Miguel accept U.S. dollars, we recommend having pesos on hand for street vendors, taxis, and market shopping. ATMs are plentiful around the central plaza, El Jardín, and most restaurants and shops accept credit cards.

While we absolutely love your kiddos, we’ve chosen to make our wedding weekend an adults-only celebration (with a few immediate family exceptions). Think of it as a fun getaway - we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
