We were on our annual Oregon Coast trip, stopping and staying at the beaches of Oregon along the coast. Later I would find out he was trying to propose on one of those beaches at sunset, but that wasn't our story. On our way toward home we stopped at the Ape Caves and went down the lower lava tube as a family. It was literal pitch black and also beautiful with the flashlights. We talked about how some people were disrespectful of the garbage we saw littered around us from time to time. We got to the end of the tunnel and Evan asks the older boys, Derek and Steven, if they could take a picture of us (Evan and I). I didn't think anything of it as we like to take memorable photos together sometimes anyways. As we're about to get our picture taken Evan says "Speaking of, look what I found along the walk here". It was a taco bell sauce packet that said "Will you marry me?" As I'm reading it, he gets down on one knee and asks the same question. Of course I say yes! and the kids cheer for us and take a couple photos. Little did I know the boys had kept the secret since before our trip that Evan was going to propose to me at some point on our way down the coast. Full disclosure too-- We have nothing to do with taco bell! haha We had just had it last minute the night before and Evan had saw the sauce packet and pocketed it thinking it was ironic.
