20 Years in the Making

Jeff and Adi met in 2001 when their elementary schools came together at Abington Jr. High. By the time they got to high school, they were in the same crew. Jeff was always very outgoing and Adi a bit shyer, and although they were never more than friends their friendship grew over the years to prepare them for what was to come. After high school Jeff tried to pursue Adi on a couple of different occasions but to no avail. She kept him stuck in the friend zone and would shut down any attempts of courtship. Fast forward to May of 2015 when Adi’s sister and Matron of Honor, Amit, got married in Pittsburgh. Adi wanted to bring a fun date and knew Jeff’s dance moves would be a highlight so he went as her plus 1. In August 2015 Jeff and Adi went to Israel together on a Birthright trip. They spent 10 days in Israel traveling and learning about the history of their roots (yes, Jeff really is Jewish). Jeff was *bar mitzvah-ed* in the Holy Land during the trip and will never let you forget it. In 2018, Adi was ready to live in the city and Jeff’s lease in Fairmount was ending. Adi knew she wanted a roommate - enter Jeff. Adi asked him to be her roommate to which he replied, “absolutely not”. After much persuasion, Jeff finally gave in and they moved into their current house in Fairmount in September. Jeff and Adi got along famously and were the best of roommates. In late 2019, they were spending more time together and there were a couple of instances that Adi made comments to Jeff about being more than friends but Jeff would not entertain the idea. And then…. COVID. In the first month of COVID Jeff and Adi spent all of their time together. Jeff was working from home but not Adi. Jeff, being the extrovert and outgoing man he is, relied on Adi to entertain him everyday. They watched shows, cooked dinner every night, and played games to pass the time. They were thriving during this horrific time in the world. Jeff and Adi got to know each other on a deeper level and sparks started to fly. They had a lot of fun and most importantly, kept each other sane while the world seemed to be falling apart. They leaned on one another and found comfort in each other which took their friendship to the next level. They became official by June. After a year and a half of dating Jeff knew he had to lock it down. He concocted an epic ruse to get Adi to Rittenhouse Square knowing it would be the perfect setting. Right as they were walking through, Adi commented on how pretty it was at night, and Jeff silently gave himself a pat on the back. He then insisted on having someone take their picture. Once they posed and smiled for strangers, he got down on one knee and asked Adi to marry him. And here they are now! Ready to share and spend the rest of their lives together!
