I was talked into joining track by a friend in eighth grade, through the spring semester, I tried running various events like the 200m or 400m, which is ironic now. However, one meet an old man in a bucket hat approached me after the 400m and told me I should try something longer like the mile and that he wanted me to join the cross country team in high school next year. He turned out to be the mayor of Sand Springs as well as the high school cross country coach. Over the past eight years, Burdge has helped and watched our relationship grow through many life milestones as runners and people. Both Aden and I agree that in many ways, we owe a lot to coach, so when it came time to decide on an officiant, it was obvious who we'd ask.
