Our Story

The Moments That Led Us Here

Our story began as close friends in high school, and to our surprise, COVID brought us even closer during the second half of our senior year. We spent every possible minute outside that spring and summer—playing tennis, riding the RipStik, or swimming with friends. Adi’s mom, Joy Bogenrief, had a feeling something was going on between us when flowers were delivered to the house after Adi’s appendix removal in May of 2020. Michael officially asked Adi out in June after a group hangout at McCook Lake, South Dakota that resulted in him missing his already-late curfew. One awkward, nervous agreement and handshake later, we were official—best summer ever! Freshman year of college was our version of “long distance,” just a 45-minute drive between Lincoln and Omaha. A degree change and missing each other eventually led us both to complete our degrees at the University of Nebraska. We truly loved our time there—attending football games, walking to campus together, grilling with friends, and watching projector movies in the (slightly creepy) basement of Adi’s college house, among many other memories. During our senior year, we had a pinning ceremony organized by our sorority and fraternity, Tri Delta and Theta Xi, to celebrate our commitment to each other. Adi began working at Offutt Air Force Base in the spring of 2023 after graduating early with a B.S. in Nutrition and Health Science, while still visiting Lincoln almost every weekend. Michael graduated in May of 2024 with his B.S. in Design, and that spring, we moved in together in Omaha. In February of 2025, we got engaged on a trip to Galena, Illinois—a weekend that perfectly reflected us. We celebrated Michael’s birthday, Valentine’s Day, and then proposal day, all in one unforgettable trip. He proposed at night in the beautiful snow, surrounded by the historic downtown lights, and it was absolutely perfect. Since then, we’ve really enjoyed our life in Omaha. Michael has been commuting to Lincoln to finish his graduate degrees in Architecture and Community & Regional Planning, expected in May 2026, while Adi decided to return to school to complete an accelerated nursing program ending in July 2026. Our reward for finishing school and navigating these new life changes is getting to celebrate forever in a room filled with all of our favorite people. We are so grateful for each and every one of you!
