La Grande Saline
Salins-les-bains is famous for its salt mines, and you can visit those mines today! This is a great trip to learn about the cultural significance of salt in the development of France and the rest of the world.
Salins les Bains Spa
The salty waters of the area are excellent for the skin. Spend a few hours or a whole day at the thermal baths and spa.
The Cheese Fort
This former Fort St. Antoine is located in Malbuisson, near Martin's family home. It has been converted into a cheesemaking cellar, and produces some of the best Comté cheeses in the region. You can visit throughout the year with reservation, learning about the cheese process and finishing with a tasting.
Mont d'Or
Take a hike along the French-Swiss border and see stunning valley views, a mountain lake, and sometimes a few Montbéliarde cows on the path! Trails range in difficulty from a relatively flat but rocky path along the cliffs, or you can descend the mountain for a more. challenging hike. On a good day, you can even see the Montblanc!
