We were both in Northeastern's NUin Program where we set off to Melbourne, Australia for our first semester of college. After a Thursday night out in Melbourne, we became inseparable! We bonded over our family, love of travel, and that we were both from the south shore of Massachusetts! Since then we have traveled to over 16 countries together and can't wait for more!
Adelaide's Point of View: Every summer I am very lucky to have the opportunity to travel to France to visit my family. Unfortunately, Shea told me that he would not be able to go because it was his busy work season. Since we were taking a trip to Hawaii in October he did not want to take too much time off (I had a feeling he was going to propose in Hawaii). After an amazing two weeks visiting Edouard in Lyon, Papi in Beaune, and my family in Menthon, my mom had planned a lunch at the Palace de Menthon. All excited, I wore my best outfit and headed there with my mom, Mathilde, Papi, Grand-Père, and Grand-Maman. My mom was adamant to take a picture by the gazebo before lunch so we headed there. After a few pictures, I turn around and see Shea, Josh, and my father walk towards me; so I ran, jumped into Shea's arms, and of course, started crying. As Shea proposed, I would not stop crying with happiness. Shea's Point of View: A few weeks before Adelaide went to France, I grabbed dinner with Mr. Megard and asked for his permission to ask his daughter's hand in marriage. Since I had a feeling Adelaide knew that I was planning on proposing in Hawaii, I had to plan a surprise! I called Mr. and Mrs. Megard a week before they were supposed to leave back to the states and told them I was coming to propose. In 3 days I got the ring made, convinced Josh to come, got Covid tested, and got onto our flight to France. I was constantly telling myself: Phone, Wallet, Passport, Ring so that I did not forget/lose them. Once we landed in Portugal I realized I forgot to bring a nice shirt so I stopped by a store to buy a dress shirt. Then had to run around the airport to find a steamer at 4 in the morning. When we landed in Geneva, Mr. Megard picked us up from the airport, gave me his shoes, and we drove to the Palace. I walked out to see Adelaide and proposed.
