We're an adventurous couple with an adventurous plan. Please arrive at the Detroit Institute of Arts at your leisure before the ceremony begins. We encourage you to explore one of the best museums in America before joining us in the Rivera Court (Diego Rivera mural room) at 4:00 for a brief exchange of vows. We have not booked the museum; the DIA will be in public hours during the ceremony. The Rivera Court is the centerpiece of the DIA, and as such, we will not have the space all to ourselves. Please be courteous and mindful of other museum attendees. Since we do not have reserved space, we may be asked to move the ceremony outside. If that happens, we will proceed out through the main Woodward entrance (west entrance) and continue on the plaza. Be prepared for an adventure!
Transportation from the hotel to the DIA is not provided, as we encourage you to come and explore the museum at your leisure. A shuttle service will be provided from the DIA to the Detroit Golf Club for the reception, as well as from the reception to the hotel (and the after-party) at the end of the night.
The dress code for both the brief ceremony and the reception is semi-formal. Both cocktail dresses and floor-length dresses are acceptable, and a fun suit is more than welcome. brides.com/semi-formal-wedding-attire-4800687
It's a ten-minute drive if you're taking your own car or an Uber. If you would like to take public transit, head east from the hotel and catch either the free Q-Line or Bus 4, both of which can be caught on Woodward. The destination stop is directly in front of the DIA.
It's your call! There's a lot to explore in Detroit, and while most of our great spots are accessible from downtown, a car does provide flexibility. The Park Detroit app is great for cheap parking around the city. Additionally, the Detroit Air Xpress is a new bus service running from the airport to downtown, about a ten-minute walk from the Wyndham Hotel.
