How We Met

From Customer to Forever

There was a time when I used to run a small online parfait business. I’d post reviews and feedback from happy customers on my WhatsApp status, little screenshots filled with praise about the taste, texture, and how my red velvet cake parfaits were “heaven in a cup.” One day, this particular man reacted to those reviews, “Why are people always hyping this cake parfait?” It wasn’t criticism, more like curiosity laced with sarcasm. You could tell he was intrigued, and maybe slightly skeptical. But soon enough, curiosity got the better of him and he finally said, “Alright, let me see what it is about.” I offered to deliver it to him because he stayed close to my area but he declined and said he’d come pick it up himself after his gym session. I agreed, but let’s be honest, I wasn’t expecting him to be that fine. When he showed up, he was finer than i thought. I tried to play it cool, but deep down, I thought, “Wow, okay. From that point on, he was hooked. Not just on the parfaits, but on showing up. He became a regular. Week after week, he’d place orders and little by little, our customer-vendor chats turned into full-blown conversations. We talked about everything; food, career, music, life goals, the kind of banter that makes you look forward to the next message. Somewhere along the line, friendship took root. Then, a few weeks later, he asked if I wanted to go see a movie with him. I won’t even lie, I was blushing hard. I said yes, of course. That day, as we sat next to each other in that cinema, laughing, exchanging quiet glances, and sharing popcorn, I knew something was shifting between us. I was so happy. It didn’t feel like just a date. It felt like something beginning. He also expressed how genuinely happy he was. I guess I was more than what he expected, fortunately for me...lol From there, things just flowed. We became so fond of each other, spending time, talking often, sharing inside jokes, and building something real, slowly but surely. Now looking back, it’s funny to think this all started with a cake parfait and a couple of WhatsApp reviews. The rest, as they say, is history. And honestly? We thank God for this union.
