Thought softball, huh? Well, love finds a way. Addy and Amy met on the RIT swim team, unreasonably late into the year. Addy had three conflicts a week (MWF) and Amy two (TTH). For the first three months, not a single practice was spent together. They realized they lived in the same dorm building walking back from a Saturday meet together. “Hi I’m Addy” “I’m Amy, nice to meet you” “You live in Ellingson? Me too!” Fast forward to the Florida training trip where they bonded over sweat, tears, sunburns, and a collective 50 hours of giggling on a bus. “Cool it with the touchin’,” says Cahill, classicly. FF again to the next school year and the two were inseparable. Lunches at Brick City, late-night library study sessions, and Amy’s sheer frequency of Park Point apartment stays, granting her the honorary title of "5th Roommate”. She thanks Melissa and Kristen for adopting her. Those apartment stays in question started with Amy, who needed to use Addy’s scanner every Thursday night for an 8 am class the next day. A task that took a grand total of 13 minutes followed by a movie on the couch. Sophomore year was a whirlwind of late nights, rides home, jungle juice, drag queens, short films, and best of all, kisses! 2017 included their favorite adventures: Toronto Pride, Study-Abroad in Italy, and the long process of learning what they truly meant to each other. In September of that year, Addy asked Amy to be her girlfriend. This partnership remained a not-so-well-kept secret for quite a while, but their favorite reactions to their coming out included: Kristen falling out of her seat, Julia screaming in delight, Karyn coming out right back, Julie to Addy with, “I always knew you were a lez,” and Amy’s mom just relieved she wasn’t pregnant (and Kathy walking in at that exact moment and accepting her fully as well). After graduating Addy and Amy lived separately in California, then long-distance for a full two years while Addy completed her post-graduate degree in Food Science. They moved into their first apartment together in Philadelphia for a short 10 months, before moving to Freeport, Maine, and adopting their rescue dog Cowboy. In May of 2023, six years after their anniversary, Amy proposed to Addy in the forest next to an A-frame house she had rented for them in Moosehead Lake, Maine.
