First Date

Dead Cabin Escape Room at Granite State Escape Room

Kirsten and Addison’s first date was a memorable and meaningful start to their journey together. They had originally planned for a lighthearted round of mini golf, but when the weather forecast called for rain, they embraced a change of plans—an escape room adventure instead. What’s more romantic for two shy strangers, than being locked in a room together full of riddles to solve in order to get out? Turns out, an escape room was a great way for Kirsten and Addison to connect, forming a strong sense of teamwork and communication right from the start. Solving puzzles together eased first-date nerves and created a natural rhythm between them. Successfully escaping Dead Cabin gave them a shared sense of accomplishment, showing they could support each other and navigate challenges—an encouraging start to their budding relationship. To their surprise, the forecasted rain never came, giving them the perfect opportunity to stroll through downtown Manchester after their escape room victory. They detoured to the Red Arrow Diner for a quick bite to eat, so they could keep the conversation going a bit longer, before parting ways. One moment in particular that stood out to Kirsten—when walking downtown, a bicyclist rushed past, and Addison instinctively moved Kirsten out of harm’s way; a true gentleman. Unbeknownst to Kirsten (until a later date), at the end of the first date, in a simple but thoughtful gesture, he also waited until she safely drove off before heading to his own car. It was a small reflection of his care and character, setting the tone for something truly special between them.

First Service, Second Date

First Church Service Together

Before their first date, Kirsten asked Addison if he attended church, which led to him inviting her to Northridge Church—where he attended as a young boy and returned to after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. With their first date set for a Saturday, Addison saw no reason to wait an entire week to attend church together, making Sunday the perfect opportunity for their second date. Worshiping side by side so early in their relationship wasn’t just a meaningful step—it was the most important one, reinforcing their shared faith and desire to grow closer to God together. Their foundation in having a Godly relationship grew even stronger when Kirsten surprised Addison a few days later with his first journaling Bible; a gift that inspired him to start their weekly Wednesday Bible Study.

First Trip

Kirsten and Addison’s first trip together was a weekend camping adventure in North Conway, NH—a true test of teamwork and communication. Traveling together requires extended, focused time, and fortunately, they navigated the experience seamlessly, balancing each other’s strengths and working together in planning, packing, and setting up camp. The trip wasn’t without its challenges. Just ten minutes into their six-hour tubing journey, Addison’s tube popped, but they handled it well—patching the damaged tube, swapping with their spare, and continuing down the river. Along the way, Kirsten’s phone ended up at the bottom of the river, and Addison got sunburned and sick, yet none of it dampened their spirits. They had an amazing time, growing stronger as a couple. This camping trip was just the beginning of many adventures they plan to share, thanking God for the blessing of journeying through the rest of life together.

First Vacation

Kirsten and Addison’s first vacation together was a family trip to Puerto Rico, a getaway planned by her parents, who generously invited Kirsten, Addison, Ryan, and Nancy to join them. On Saturday, February 8, 2025, Kirsten, Addison, and her parents flew into San Juan, eager for a week full of adventure. On Monday, they picked up Ryan and Nancy from the airport and spent the evening exploring the colorful streets of Old San Juan. The rest of the week was packed with unforgettable experiences: Tuesday: They hiked through El Yunque National Forest, marveling at waterfalls and the lush tropical scenery. Wednesday: They tried surfing right on the beach behind their Airbnb. Thursday: They beach-hopped near Seven Seas Beach, trekking scenic trails that led to hidden shores accessible only by foot. Friday: They took a ferry to Culebra Island, spending the day exploring its unique beaches and turquoise waters. Saturday: They wrapped up their incredible trip and headed back home. From breathtaking landscapes to exciting new experiences, they made the most of every moment and are incredibly grateful for such an amazing adventure together.

The Proposal

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, Addison made the vacation even more unforgettable by proposing to Kirsten on the beautiful shores of Luquillo Beach. That morning, they packed for a relaxing beach day. While Kirsten swam in the ocean, Addison and her dad wandered over to the nearby strip of shops and bars to buy sunglasses. As they returned, Kirsten stepped out of the water—only to be stopped in her tracks by Addison. With heartfelt words, he dropped to one knee and asked her to be his wife. Without hesitation, she said yes, and they spent the rest of the day celebrating their engagement. The celebration continued the next day when they picked up Ryan and Nancy from the airport, sharing the excitement of their engagement together as a family.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (ESV)

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.
