Justin's first year working for the Blue Jays was my third year working for their rookie league team in Bluefield, West Virginia, where he ended up spending his first season. On June 1, 2018, I was given the option of working the county fair the next day for the Blue Jays or taking the strength coach (who I hadn't met at the time) to the airport in Roanoke.. I obviously picked taking the coach to the airport, because who wants to work the fair? I went over to introduce myself, along with the other lady that worked in the front office, and before I even saw him, she felt the need to let me know it was going to be a rather long summer (not in those exact words, but I think you get the picture). And for those that know me well, know I am not shy by any means but when Justin introduced himself, I literally had no words, I just put my sunglasses on and felt my face turn blood red. Later that day he asked for my phone number so we could coordinate where I was picking him up the next day. That night I came up with some lame excuse to text him (just to double check what time I was picking him up, even though we had already discussed that like 3 times earlier). But that was it, we have texted every single day since that point and by the end of the summer, I was head over heels in love and moving to Florida. I'm so glad I didn't work the fair!
On this day, we were going one of our favorite restaurants in Clearwater Beach to meet up with his parents. When we got there, there were boat races going on out in the water so we decided to walk out on the beach and watch. (I was confused because his mom brought a full beach bag with us but none of us were dressed to hang out on the beach.) We watched for a few minutes and then took a couple pictures because Jacob's birthday was coming up soon. When Justin mentioned taking a picture of just the two of us, he reached into his mom's bag and pulled out a bag and handed it to me. It had a card and a box in it and he told me to open the box first. I was so excited to see it was an Alex and Ani box (because I had shown him a "dog mom" bracelet from there that I wanted just a few days before) and when I opened it, there was this gorgeous bracelet inside that said "Happily Ever After." I gave a probably disappointing "Awh it's cute" response because I was expecting it to be the dog mom bracelet but Justin then handed me the card and said open it. Once I opened it and began reading, he got down on one knee and began saying everything that was written inside. I was ugly crying and really couldn't believe this was happening. I obviously said yes, or you wouldn't be reading this right now, but it really was the best day for me so far and we are so excited for you to be a part of our next best day in January! See you in Lakeland!
