Addie and Lance met in Greenville, South Carolina in the spring of 2017. Addie went to work as Chief of Staff for a government agency where Lance also worked as General Counsel. The two bonded first as friends over a shared faith in Jesus Christ, a love for family, music, history, antique shops and mountain views. At the time, Addie was in the process of buying her first home - an exciting but stressful feat that nearly didn't happen - and Lance could sense she needed a break from the pressures of being a first time home buyer. A day trip to the Blue Ridge mountains, complete with weaving around winding paths, a delicious southern dinner, and some special mementos purchased at a roadside antique store did the trick to soothe Addie's nerves and make her stop and appreciate this budding friendship. Moving day arrived and Lance, once again, gave of his time to coordinate moving her in with some friends - he even came back to help her dad paint a room! Once again, Addie was floored by his kindness and sweet spirit. The more they got to know each other that summer, the more they both felt that perhaps God had more in store for them than friendship. An evening of laughing and talking until the sun went down on "their bench" by the Reedy River in Greenville's iconic Falls Park would solidify this for Addie. She later learned from Lance that the same night made him confident of this, too. It wasn't too long after that special evening that Lance and Addie made the best decision of their lives - to chose each other, to love each other without condition, and most importantly, to place God in the very center of their walk together. A little over a year later, Lance took Addie back to that special bench in the park - the one where they realized their lives were about to change - and asked her to be his wife. The rest, you might say, is history...
