Both versions

Our story started with a very intentional attempt to do better with texting because, as you know, I’m terrible at it. Like… truly horrible. But that day, I decided to intentionally reply back to an unknown person who had left a message the month before. Like I said, I was trying to be better. Just one simple reply. And that text changed everything. Now look at us, three years later, about to commit our lives to each other. Our first call was about three hours, and we talked the whole time like we had known each other. I remember feeling so comfortable. I remember thinking, “Okay… this is someone that challenges me, someone I can actually be myself with, someone I can share my story with.” One conversation turned into another, then another, and we just kept choosing each other. Then one day he playfully asked, “So what’s the bride price in Amichi?” and I acted calm like it was nothing and said, “Let’s pray about it.” Look, here we are, and you all are reading our story. But honestly, when you really look at the logistics, this whole thing is crazy. We’re more than 5,000 miles apart, in two different countries, on two different continents. We met by chance through a Facebook mutual friend, and somehow we were not intimidated by the distance, or even the immigration tensions. If anything, what we held onto was faith. We decided as long as God remains the center, we will overcome it all. And He has carried us each step by step and it has lead us right here.

A scroll through Facebook, casually stumbled upon Ada's profile as people I may know. Sent her a friend request and continued scrolling. Later on I realised she's accepted my request, then I followed up with a DM. It took her like a month to respond after which I also replied after 2 weeks. We were just exchanging texts slowly, responding after few days or weeks. We finally exchanged numbers and moved our contacts on to WhatsApp. I could vividly remember the very first intentional long conversation we had on an Easter Monday while she was driving on a long trip, it didn't seem like I was talking with a stranger, we clicked like we've known each other for a while. A defining moment during the conversation was when why spoke about how we would spend a million dollars and our response was similar, I casually mentioned that we could make a good team, then she responded with a statement that blew my mind.... "Let's pray about it"..😁. That was when I realised that she's the real deal and I would be blessed to have her by my side for life. That was where the journey started from friendship into a full blown relationship. Indeed, it hasn't been a walk in the park, life has swung at us in different measures and in different directions, we intentionally chose to walk together and here we are, about to spend the rest of our lives together like the team we envisioned surrounded by our amazing family and wonderful friends, backed up by God.
