How We Met: A Story Years in the Making

Some love stories unfold in an instant — a spark across a room, a conversation that lasts all night. But for Adam and Kylie, their story was quietly being written long before they ever met. It all started back at Clemson University, where Kylie and Anna — Adam's sister-in-law — were fast friends. Between sorority events, late-night chats about the future, and all the fun along the way, Anna began to form a quiet theory. There was something-call it God's hand, call it an invisible string, call it Anna's creativity and romantic heart- that made her think: Adam and Kylie need to meet. But timing is everything, and for years, it never quite lined up. After college, Kylie’s path took her to Washington, D.C., where she began her career at Meridian International. It just so happened that Adam’s Aunt Lee was an executive there. When she learned that Kylie was a Clemson graduate, Lee asked if she knew Hayden Garrett (Adam's brother), to which Kylie shared "Believe it or not, he is married to my friend Anna!" Still no mention of Adam, but it was another thread quietly weaving the web of fate that kept connecting them from afar. Meanwhile, Adam was in Charlotte, North Carolina — living his own life, building his own story, and dreaming of moving to Charleston — unaware of the way that his life was going to change. Eventually, Kylie made the move to Charleston, drawn by the charm of the city and being closer to her best friend Nicole. And then, like something out of a modern fairy tale, her phone lit up with a message from none other than Anna. It was playful, full of hope, and excitement: "I saw you moved to Charleston! Are you single? Do you want to go on a blind date with my brother-in-law? I’ve been saying for years you two would hit it off." With some encouragement from Nicole, Kylie agreed. After all, if Anna had held on to this idea for so long, maybe there was something to it. The date came, and from the very first moment, it felt different. Conversation flowed easily. There was laughter, curiosity, connection — not the awkwardness of strangers meeting, but the comfort of two people who had been unknowingly circling each other for years. The sparks flew, and this time, everything did line up. What began as a suggestion from a college friend turned sister-in-law became something extraordinary. Adam and Kylie’s story wasn’t one of chance — it was one of quiet serendipity, of people and places aligning until the time was right. And the rest, as they say, is history.
