Florence, Football & Facebook – A modern love story

It happened one night.... (dramatic music plays)... Ok. fine..... it happened one pretty generic, seemingly insignificant fall afternoon.

We go way back... to the dark days of high school. I mean, movies were basically still black and white then, and talking pictures were all the rage.... you know, back before technology, when people were basically cave-men… Ok, so maybe we're not THAT old.... but.... the road to here has been long and full of twist and turns. We dated in high school, stayed friends after a break-up(?), and then went our separate ways after graduation. One went joined the Marines, traveled the world, and basically had a great time living it up and being awesome. The other, went to college, then law school, got a sensible job and blah blah blah. You can take your best guess who did what. Anywho, we stayed in touch sporadically, talked to each other once in a blue moon about life and love and all the major life events. Nothing spectacular or special. As we all know, life has a funny way of putting us where we need to be when we need to be there. Who knew that a friend, a free ticket to a football game, a Facebook post and a hurricane would be the unique mix that brought us together. David was in Tennessee to escape a natural disaster (thank you Hurricane Florence)!!! Anna was living her best life, ticking things off her bucket list, going to a Tennessee Football game. Both were just going along, living their lives. Anna made a Facebook post about her adventures in football fandom. Guess who else just so happened to be at that same game??? None other than David himself. David's mom saw it, commented, shared, and poof... all of a sudden… love. Ok, there was a bit more to it than that, but that’s the story of how we reconnected. Falling in love took a little longer and involved lots of driving, early morning phone calls, late night texts, and a mutual love of the same comedian (even if David loved him first). And now here we are, celebrating that love with all of you. We’ll try to keep the mushy stuff to a minimum, but ya’ll know how we are.
