How We Met

We were going to different schools nearby in Louisville. I would come visit my mom down the street from campus for lunch once to twice a week. One day there was this new person she hired. I'm a shy person, so I didn't speak much to him unless spoken to. He was very easy to talk to, was a bit annoying, but still charming. We became friends and much later on, we decided to take our relationship to the next level. There are a lot of details in between, but we overcame the challenges of long distance once he moved back to Ohio and have happily been together since.

The Proposal

05/04/2019

Our favorite thing to do in WV is hike and kayak. We had went hiking the previous weekend with Joe's dad, my mom and her boyfriend. I was a little suspicious because everyone kept saying it was a special occasion. As the weekend quickly passed, my assumption was that all of us getting to be together was the special occasion (turns out the ring didn't come in in time). The next weekend, Joe drags me out of bed to go to Hawk's Nest with the pups; a gorgeous place to hike. As we get ready to start hiking, I remember trying to put my phone in his pocket because I didn't have any, and his irrational reaction drew suspicion. Upon further observation, I noticed a box-looking shape in his pocket as we stood at the most beautiful overlook I had ever seen. After a few moments he kissed my forehead and said that we should go. Confusion overcame me. As we were driving down the mountain, I was texting my friends about Joe's behavior, and that I couldn't figure out why he was so protective over his pants pocket. They all acted very surprised, but little did I know, they were in on it. We pulled over to a waterfall at the end of the mountain, got the pups out of the Jeep, and Joe went and asked a stranger to take a picture of us. As the kind stranger snapped some photos, I watched my best friend get down on one knee, dogs entangling us, and propose to the luckiest girl alive. She said yes! My friends again acted surprised as if they were seeing the ring for the first time. Gotta love em!
