Jacob and Alex always saw each other in passing but neither of them ever stopped to get acquainted with one another until Jacobs roommate Shawn started dating Maggie one of Alex’s best friends. Alex and Jacob were around each other much more. Some time in 2016 Jacob and Alex were both looking for a job, there was an open interview for servers at Eureka! In downtown Santa Barbara. Neither of them had any idea they’d be doing the interview at the same time. After that Jacob asked Alex if she wanted to come over to watch the Golden State Warriors game with him and some mutual friends. Initially Alex declined and it wasn’t until later that day when Alex saw Jacob in passing at school when she changed her mind. During the game Alex and Jacob noticed how much they were both enjoying quality time around one another, and from that point forward they have remained by each others side.

Jacob had asked Alex to go beach combing to find some abalone shells (he knew she couldn’t refuse finding abalone shells). Alex agrees and they get ready and head over to one of Alex’s favorite beaches. Once they arrive Alex starts picking up litter as she combs the beach while Jacob decides to go check out the driftwood structures. Alex continues down the beach and spots some abalone shells. In this moment she realizes how far down the beach she has gotten and begins walking back to Jacob. Jacob had found some rocks he wanted to show Alex and after bringing a few to her attention he saw the opportunity he was waiting for. Alex turned to walk away from Jacob as he said, “I have one more rock here that I would like you to see”. Alex unexpectedly turned to see a beautiful ring and a smile on Jacobs face followed by him asking for her hand in marriage.
