Tyler and Catherine met working at Ancona's Market, a locally owned grocery store in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Catherine was working the register and Tyler was sent over to bag groceries. Catherine admired how Tyler bagged groceries in paper bags with Tetris-like perfection, always leaving the eggs and bread on top. Tyler was impressed by Catherine's extensive produce PLU code knowledge: 4011 (bananas) 4225 (avocados) 4067 (zucchini) -- she's still got it! It's worth noting that Catherine didn't look half bad in her green embroidered Ancona's smock either!
Tyler was based on Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah while Catherine was obtaining her Bachelor's Degree at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. The two were in a long distance relationship for four years, flying back and forth whenever possible. Catherine also spent a summer with Tyler in Utah where she interned remotely for a start-up and worked at a local grocery store (which was no Ancona's)!
Tyler and Catherine have lived together all over! First, they bought a fixer-upper condo in South Salem, NY and stayed there for a year. Next, they took some time off to backpack through Southeast Asia for 5 weeks before sleeping on Catherine's sister's couch (the Maid of Honor!) for two weeks, and then found a studio apartment on the Upper East Side. Catherine and Tyler lived in a studio together for two years -- calling it "cozy" would be generous. The pair then moved a few blocks uptown to 88th and 1st and upgraded to a one bedroom above a cute wine bar. Catherine still reminisces about the stunning exposed brick in that apartment. Looking to escape the city during the pandemic, Catherine and Tyler were on the move again in December 2020 when they moved to a 20 acre property in Barre, Vermont. While in Barre they got their first dog - Ollie! After a few months in Vermont, they decided to move once more and have now settled into an apartment in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina! The weather-shock from a Vermont winter to a southern summer has been an adventure. We can't wait to see what comes next!
