We matched on Bumble (so millennial of us!), not once but twice while Jenna was in medical school at Emory and Ryan was working at Cardlytics in Atlanta. When we finally met up, we enjoyed a drink at the Bantam Pub and started planning our second date at Bon Ton where Jenna went on to enjoy her first raw oyster.
We planned a romantic third anniversary weekend trip close to Durham and landed at a private cottage within an enormous resort tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains. After setting out on a hike, we reached the lookout point. Ryan sneakily grabbed the ring box out of his backpack, lifted a phone up to take a selfie (but actually was recording a video the whole time), and pulled the ring box around Jenna's shoulder to reveal it. Jenna's first question was "are you proposing?" (duh) but she very quickly said "yes!" and then discovered how swollen fingers can get while hiking, which made her proclaim "you just have to push harder!" The ring does in fact fit perfectly. We then proceeded to get lost due to engagement bliss but eventually found our way back to enjoy an incredible dinner and massages to cap off the perfect weekend.
