Travel & Things To Do

We know California is a long way to come for one event, and while a quick Google search will turn up LA & Santa Barbara’s most popular attractions, we thought we'd share a few of the hidden gems—and give you a mini tour of our love story while we're at it. Whatever you choose to do with your time here, we hope you'll love the beautiful, chaotic, sunshiny West Coast as much as we do.

Vroman's Bookstore

695 East Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91101

the site of what we now call our first date (it started with "we should be friends" and ended with "we should go out") ✒︎ check out the books & the extensive pen collection and then do what we did & wander down to Urth Caffe for a drink

Salt & Straw

39 West Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91105

the site of what Nichi jokes was our "1st-2nd-3rd date" (i.e. our 1st "official" date, our 2nd one-on-one adventure, & our 3rd outing together) ❄︎ we guarantee you won't regret trying this deliciously outrageous West Coast ice cream spot

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

5905 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036

the site where we became "official" (we then proceeded to spend more than 12 straight hours together!) ☆ LACMA boasts an extensive art collection & of course the iconic lampposts installation plus you'll find the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures next door

Superior Court Of California County Of Santa Barbara

1100 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

our first day trip as a couple started in this spot (the trip didn't go to plan but the chaos only bought us closer together) ♖ this beautiful Spanish Colonial courthouse is iconic you'll also find the bustling State Street Promenade just a short walk away

The Lark Santa Barbara

131 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Nichi first realized she was falling in love with Adam while missing him during a family dinner here (the two of us returned for dinner together less than a month later) ♡ delicious family-style American fine dining in a cute environment

Heirloom Bakery & Cafe

807-C Meridian Avenue, South Pasadena, CA 91030

Nichi's favorite cafe (& the site of countless dates) we met parents for the 1st time here, caught up after trips here, & celebrated getting engaged here! ☕︎ this charming, locally-owned spot has delicious sandwiches, salads, & pastries

The Americana at Brand

889 Americana Way, Glendale, CA 91210

we can't have a list of top spots without including our go-to movie theater (we could pretend it's because it's halfway between us, but really it's the proximity to another Salt & Straw) ❂ this delightfully kitschy outdoor mall features an over-the-top water fountain, endless Bublé & Sinatra, and lots of high end shopping

Descanso Gardens

1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011

the site where we got engaged (finally home) ♥︎ this botanical garden's February highlights include their Camellia Forest, Okame cherry blossoms, and early spring bulbs
