Adam conspired with “Steph’s crew” (as he calls them) to propose at Cantigny park. There was some last minute discussion on how it should be executed. The crew thought the rose garden would be more romantic, but Adam decided that getting a proposal picture next to one of the many military tanks on the property would be far better. In truth, Steph and Adam had enjoyed playing a tank battle video game together for a while, so it seemed appropriate to Adam at least. He also knew that even Steph wouldn’t think he would be crazy enough to propose next to a historic war machine, so she’d never see it coming. As Steph’s crew waited in the bushes and fended off hornets, Steph tried to figure out how to climb up on the massive war machine. When she turned to ask Adam for a leg up, Adam was already on one knee, having suddenly realized he planned everything except what he was going to say. While Adam searched for words, Steph exclaimed “what are you doing?” Which forced Adam to answer the question before trying to pop the question. Eventually Adam managed to ask Steph to marry him, and despite the militaristic setting and Adam struggling through an impromptu interrogation (what else would he be doing on one knee?) Steph said yes. Also, her crew survived their battle with the hornets and managed to take pictures. Adam wanted people to know that he proposed next to an M48, a heavy cold-war era main battle tank with a delightful Snoopy painted on the side. He maintains people will ask.
